“This is my prayer to thee, my lord — strike, strike at the root of penury in my heart/ Give me the strength lightly to bear my joys and sorrows/… Give me the strength to raise my mind high above daily trifle/ And give me the strength to surrender my strength to thy will with love.…’’
Rabindra Nath Tagore

Just as the inaugural session of the 14th Saarc summit seemed in danger of lapsing into yet another has-been conference, Bangladesh’s chief adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed rescued the morning by ending his speech with a Tagore poem.

Salim enters after the nandigram genocide and SEZ cap declared there. Amidst CPIM`s great Damage Control Campaign Salim reappeared in the writers!
NRI businessman Prasun Mukherjee, a stakeholder in the Salim Group’s consortium, will meet Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Wednesday. After Nandigram was ruled out and Haldia, the alternative site, found not to have enough land, industry secretary Sabyasachi Sen said the SEZ size might have to be made smaller.

Buddhadev has got Green Signal for capitalist development not only from Party central Committee which committed a historical blunder few years back when it stopped the rise of a Red Star in the Indian sky pulling back Basu`s legs to become the first communist and as well as the first Bengali Prim Minister, but also fro the Prime Minister and super prime Minister! Let the state congress minnows bark alone and alienated!

Now it is very clear as we are Napalmed! Eminent Writer and Activist Mahashweta Devi has disclosed in her column, `AAMI JAA DEKHCHHI’ in bangla Statesman that Buddhadev is also enslaved by US. MNC Dows enters Bengal for Chemical Hub this time!
Inspite of Nandigram, the CPI-M wants the West Bengal government to pursue its industrialisation drive vigorously, while protecting the interests of the peasantry.
After a thorough review of Nandigram, the party’s central committee announced that action would be taken for the “mistakes” committed there. The committee favoured the industrial drive, asserting the state’s success story in agriculture had laid the “foundation” for industrialisation.

The government is likely to cap the maximum area for a Special Economic Zone at 5,000 hectares, reports CNBC-TV18. It is also likely to announce more rules for SEZs after the Empowered Group of Ministers on SEZs meet on Thursday. They are to meet tomorrow to resolve issues. EGoM is likely to cap the number of SEZs at current level. It is also likely to lift freeze on SEZs where land has been acquired.Land acquisition for SEZs by state governments is unlikely to be allowed. EGoM may cap area for SEZ at 5,000 hectares with retrospective effect.

“We must now make a break with the past and join hands to realise our common, shared destiny,” Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said.

Prime minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, who has been stressing the need to unleash South Asia from the mental and physical bondage of partition through different “connectivities”, announced the unilateral liberalisation of visas for students, teachers, professors, journalists and patients from Saarc countries.

“The dream of regional connectivity will not be realised merely by building roads and railways,’’ he said, calling for a world-class South Asian university to engage the regional mind.

Exceedingly careful about not making any references to the dramatic political transformation taking place in the region, Singh could not help pointing out that “our governments are now addressing the bilateral political issues that have prevented us from achieving our potential”.

Marxists hated tagore and now they love Tagore! Rabindra Setu was the beginning, Rabindra bhavan was the epicentre, now it is all over Rabindra and Rabindra! Rabindra was the first man who taught us how to address Globalisation! He was the man who coined Indian Nationalism. He was the staunch supporter of Swaraj. He declared that doors for West is open but he emphasised to defend the roots, indegineous Production system and Indian Plural Culture!Contemporary neo-liberal globalisation has proceeded to normalize itself by creating a common-sense opposition between the global and the local.Indeed globalisation seems to be a magical process by which nation-states voluntarily agree to relinquish their power. The frameworks of trade and financial flows that are being put into place by agreements (WTO, NAFTA, FTAA and so on) are inter-national in their basis even as they seek to subject the powers of sovereign states to global regimes of economic power.

A global economy is inherently unjust, unstable and unsustainable...There is an accelerating gap between the rich and the poor. Widespread violence is tearing families and communities apart. And the planet’s ecosystems are deteriorating at an alarming rate.Globalization is essentially acceleration and expansion of industrialization and integration of national into regional or global economies. It is not going to dissipate or disappear, no matter how much some of us wish it so. It can be contained, but that could lead to worldwide industrial and economic stagnation - hardly a solution to the problems of global poverty, inequality, and violence. Global techno-economic systems carry vast opportunity for large numbers of dispossessed people around the world.

Culturally speaking, globalization is largely the spread (for better and for worse) of Americanization - from Big Macs and iMacs to Mickey Mouse. The idea of 'global consciousness' is suggested as an antidote to the poison of parochialism that feeds and justifies mercenary globalism that is killing the promise of a truly 'global society.' My commitment to this ideal is constantly reinforced by the lives of the likes of Abraham Lincoln, Rabindranath Tagore, Mahatma Gandhi, Albert Einstein, Bertrand Russell, Jawaharlal Nehru, Mother Teresa, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Nelson Mandela. Their examples shine as beacon lights for social and economic justice in an otherwise not so enlightened but physically interdependent world. That ideological clash has now been replaced by cross-cultural denigration, racial and ethnic diatribe, violent regional conflicts, terrorism, and the ‘war on terrorism’ on all sides, not just the conflict between religious fanatics of all variety. This is not to suggest that there were no ethnic or regional conflicts before or during the Cold War.

Globalisation involves cluster of issues. The issues range from the role of IT in education in India to comparative sociolinguistic analyses of language and conflict in Nigeria and India, from imaginings of India in British diasporic cinema to the battles over the Tamil canon on the internet, from macroeconomic analyses of globalization and its impact on Indian polity and economy to the fractures and possibilities inherent in North East India.

In what ways does Tagore's notion of the viswa prevent a slide into a notion of globalisation that would not elide the question of assymetrical relationships between different spatial units?

Despite these conflicts, global interdependence in a finite physical world is increasing every day. Global warming is affecting weather and vegetation on the entire planet. Acid rain from pollution caused by industries in the United States can stunt Latin forests affecting rainfall and crops in the entire region (McKibben 1998; Mathews 1999). Water and food chain toxicity is no longer a local problem as fruits, grains, and vegetables are increasingly sold and consumed across national markets (Bright 1999). National economies instantaneously react to global political and economic upheavals. Events in the Middle East cause oil prices to jump everywhere. Stock markets dance in tandem. Currencies fluctuate together. So many diseases - Ebola, mad cow disease, AIDS, influenza, SARS - have been globalized due to the movement of people and products across nations. Over-population, poverty, hunger, war, and violence in some parts of the world threaten the entire world (State of the World 1999; State of the World 2000; State of the World 2001; State of the World 2002).

Dows is famous for Napalm bombs and associated well with Vietnam War against which the Marxists once cried- AAMAR NAAM TOMAR NAAM SABAAR NAAM VIETNAM! The slogan has changed meanwhile: AMAAR NAAM TOMAAR NAAM SABAAR NAAM NANDIGRAM! NANDIGRAM! NANDIGRAM! NANDIGRAM!

The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW TYO: 4850 ) is an American multinational corporation headquartered in Midland, Michigan.
The Dow Chemical Company is currently the second largest chemical manufacturer in the World (after BASF)[2]. Dow Chemical is a major provider of plastics, chemicals, and agricultural products. With presence in 156 Countries and more than 45,000 employees around the world, Dow holds itself to be one of the top world companies in innovation and research and development,[citation needed] with more than $1 billion annual expenditure in R&D and the single largest concentation of PhD and Engineers in the United States.[citation needed] Its stated vision under the current CEO, Mr. Andrew Liveris, is to contribute to create a better world.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dow_Chemical_Company

The company was founded in 1897 by Canadian-born chemist Herbert Henry Dow, who had invented a new method of extracting the bromine that was trapped underground in brine at Midland, Michigan.[1] While at first the company sold only bleach and potassium bromide, Dow today has seven major operating segments, with a wide variety of products offered by each.[2] The company's 2005 sales totaled $46.3 billion, with a net income of $4.5 billion. Traded on the New York Stock Exchange, as of 2005 Dow has about 105,000 shareholders.[3]

While Dow has a world wide presence both financially and due to product coverage, most consumers are aware of the company from press-releases rather than product usage. In recent times, Dow has been called a "Chemical companies' Chemical company" in that most of their product is sold to other manufacturers rather than to end users. Dow had periods of selling into the Human and Animal Health markets as well as into the Consumer Products market (the latter most visible with Saran Wrap), but all of these facilities have been sold over the years.

Dow Chemical is an active member of the American Chemical Association, and an active partner in different programs and initiatives in both the World Bank and United Nations.

Napalm is any of a number of flammable liquids used in warfare, often jellied gasoline. Napalm is actually the thickener in such liquids, which when mixed with gasoline makes a sticky incendiary gel. Developed by the U.S. in World War II by a team of Harvard chemists led by Louis Fieser, its name is a portmanteau of its original ingredients, coprecipitated aluminum salts of naphthenic and palmitic acids. These were added to the flammable substance to cause it to gel.[1]

One of the major problems of early incendiary fluids (such as those used in flamethrowers) was that it splashed and drained too easily. The U.S. found that a gasoline gel increased both the range and effectiveness of flamethrowers, but was difficult to manufacture because it used natural rubber, which was in high demand and expensive. Napalm provided a far cheaper alternative, solving the issues involved with rubber-based incendiaries.[1]

Modern napalm is composed primarily of benzene and polystyrene, and is known as napalm-B.[1]

Napalm was used in flamethrowers and bombs by the U.S. and Allied forces, to increase effectiveness of flammable liquids. The substance is formulated to burn at a specific rate and adhere to materials. Napalm is mixed with gasoline in various proportions to achieve this. Another useful (and dangerous) effect, primarily involving its use in bombs, was that napalm "rapidly deoxygenates the available air" as well as creating large amounts of carbon monoxide causing suffocation. Napalm bombs were also used in the Vietnam War to clear landing zones for helicopters.[1]

Though napalm was a 20th century invention, it is part of a long history of incendiary materials in warfare. However, historically, it was primarily liquids that were used (see Greek fire). An infantry-based flammable liquid fuel weapon, the flamethrower, was introduced in World War I by the Germans, variations of which were soon developed by other sides in the conflict.[1]

US admits it used napalm bombs in Iraq

In-Depth Coverage By Andrew Buncombe

American pilots dropped the controversial incendiary agent napalm on Iraqi troops during the advance on Baghdad. The attacks caused massive fireballs that obliterated several Iraqi positions.

The Pentagon denied using napalm at the time, but Marine pilots and their commanders have confirmed that they used an upgraded version of the weapon against dug-in positions. They said napalm, which has a distinctive smell, was used because of its psychological effect on an enemy.

A 1980 UN convention banned the use against civilian targets of napalm, a terrifying mixture of jet fuel and polystyrene that sticks to skin as it burns. The US, which did not sign the treaty, is one of the few countries that makes use of the weapon. It was employed notoriously against both civilian and military targets in the Vietnam war.

The upgraded weapon, which uses kerosene rather than petrol, was used in March and April, when dozens of napalm bombs were dropped near bridges over the Saddam Canal and the Tigris river, south of Baghdad.

Globalistion is also Realignment of Demography. Urbanisation is the easiest way to evict the hostile population! We should investigate the Demographic realignment whenever we talk on Industrialisation, urbanisation and Globalisation.

Without realignment of the population you may not create a Hindu superpower India Shining, Mind You!

We have read so many write ups by Left leaders in media! We have heard from so many Left leaders from different forums! The government violated Human Rights, Civil rights and the most hyped RTI!The Left leadership have said so many things centred on so called plot to oust the Marxists by Rightists and Ultra Leftists!

Is there any Marxist Rule in Bengal after all? Do the Marxists care for Ideology and commitment at all? Left Rule has become the best tool of Brahmin promoter raj in Bengal! Why the brahmin Ruling Class is out to oust Marxists while they have maintained the Rotten Manusmriti so scientifically in Bengal? Rightists are led by Brahmins. So are the Left and Ultra Left!
Thus, The plot theory does not stand at all!

Suppose , there had been a plot! Suppose, the Marxists version of the story is nothing but truth! Why the West Bengal Government was trapped in a Genocide so unwanted? Why Writers Building was unable to control the situation? Why the party leadership was not minimum diplomatic to save the day? Why the Cadres were armed to annihilate the peasantry? Why they were in a haste to recapture Nandigram?

No CPIM or Left leaders seem s to be answer these uneasy questions!

Let Us Analyse a lttle bit!
Basic question is how the Left Front avoids anti-incumbency factor in every election and is successful to hold the POWER for three decades? Even after Nandigram why Buddhdev and the Left leaders do not care for public opinion and the opinion of its longtime sympathisers and friends?

If we judge by the achievements of secularism, land reforms, rural development and panchayat system, we have to be spell bound to analyse the turnaround! Well, in West Bengal, if the Ruling Left works in the best interest of the Have Nots, the proletariat, It is a mystery why Nandigram had been thrown in the Blood stream and The Gestapo has its Run in Nandigram!

The Left Base in Bengal is a mystery and at the same time, not a mystery at all!
Cadre power is well expressed in Singur as well as in Nandigram! What the Red Gestapo may do, it has become a history now.Calcutta High court and CBI team exposed a tip of the ICE BERG only. Media also played its sponsored role as well and we really got some footage of the Cold Horror! Then CBI works under the Government of India, led by UPA which may not go a step forward or backward without Left support. The meeting of Buddhadev with Prime Minister and Super Prime minster and the agenda of the central committee have sealed well the episode whatsoever! Now, it would be quite rude to expect anything fro a CBI enquiry. CBI could no do anything to discover the stolen Rabindra Nobel Medal! It could do nothing to expose the Keshpur Massacre! Nothing done in Nanur Case! Nothing happened in the Purulia Arms air Drop Case in Purulia! Without any political will, why the CBI should be so active? And political will depends with power bargaing. It is always in favour of the Brahmin Raj. Neither Judicairy nor CBI has any track record to save the underclasses, the dalits, the tribals and particularly, the muslims!

CPIM led Left holds the power in Bengal by propagating a Brahminical bangla nationalism which is quite different fro that of Bangladesh, mostly represented by Muslims and dalits! In Bengal, it creates bogey of fascist Hindutva and US Imperialism just to dodge the underclasses while the left government has proved itself a better tool of Brahminical Hindutava and Corporate Zionist US MNC imperialism!

In fact, Left holds the power enslaving the Dalits, BC, OBC, Tribals, Muslims and other minorities.
In fact, Left has created a scientific rigging system with its well oiled election machinery supported by Police and Administration and run by the Cadres! It is called organisation. This organisation is fed by State Resources and revenue. Peerless Credit had been the source of employees` salary all these years. Now The tatas takes over. Some day it will be Salim or Sultan Or Dows! Panchayati raj ia praised all over which has got the responsibility of Rural Development. This is the avenue, where CPIMpays well its cadrebase! No wonder, the helpless opposition in Bengal wants the Panchayats. Thus, The Brahminical opposition wants to continue Nandigram resistance while Left is crying CEASE FIRE and PEACE all the time. Panchayat Elections are not too far away!

The key lies in all the Sixty thousand polling booths. You have to manage the booths very well to capture Vote. It is not the Vote Bank like the COW BELT which determines the electral results. It is the BOOTH and the AREA combined which decides the color of polity. Capture the area, manage the booth and ensure nintey percent Cast. This is the key of Success for the Left in Brahminical Bengal!

This booth management is not very simple as it may sound. cadres have to be in constant touch with the people. Party has to intervene in every petty day to day affairs of the captive population. Society sholuld be disciplined and has to be mad a habitual Left supporter.Party Local Committeee has to take over fro police and administration.
In West Bengal, No FIR IS LODGED ANY WHERE WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF LOCAL COMMITTE. POLICE AND ADMINISTARTION HAVE TO WAIT FOR GREEN SIGNAL FROM CPIM TO ACT. WHICH ACTUALLY HAPPENED IN NANDIGRAM BLOODBATH!

Cpim local committees hold all the power of executive, judiciary and legislature.
Laxman seth, Nirupam Sen, Amitabh Nandi, Sushanto Ghosh are few names which have become giants of Bengal. What Laxam Seth did in Nandigarm, issueing land aquisition notice, is nothing new. Somnath Catterjee did whatsoever he thinks GOOD for promoters in Shanti Niketan. Ashok bhattachary has become the DON of North Bengal!
If you don`t support Left in Bengal, be ready to face dire consequences, Mental and Physical toture, social bycutts and liquidition! So, the witches are hunted so often! So lynching is in Vogue! Encrochment is never a crime in Bengal as long as you have got the party support!
Areas should be captured. No area should be a FREE ZONEas Buddhadev cried in Brigade rally just before Nandigarm Genocide! Free Zone means out of Party control. So Nandigram is attacked constantly from KHejuri side. Thus janani Bricks factory was used by armed cadres for almost three months and the War continues.

Earlier Keshpur Kurukshetra was won in leadership of MP Laxman Seth and Minister Sushanto Ghosh. They tried it in Nandigram this time and unfortunately faced unprecedented Ressistance! Keshpur was won. Nothing happened. Nandigram Resists and everything happens. What not? Genocide! Gangrape! Molestation! Arson! Arrests! torture! kidnaps! Loot! Press Censorship! Everything and the world is shocked to watch the Truth limited!

bECAUSE THEY WON kESHPUR, BECAUSE THEY WERE LOSING GROUND IN MEDINIPUR WITH INDISCRIMINATE LAND AQUISITION IN NANDIGRAM, KHARAGPUR, SHALBVANEE, HARIPUR, JANPUT, EVERYWHERE, it became almost mendatry for the Left to recapture Nandigram! It got land slide victory in last assembelly elections and Buddhadev was overconfident to control and manange every thing as long as the Media and Intellegentsia supported the Left!

What went wrong with Buddha?

What went wrong with CPIM and Left.
Nandigram resisted. singur resistance continues despite the land transfer to Tatas, In 24 parganas, Nadia, Malda, Murishidabad, Hugli, Howrah, burdwan- everywhere the peasantry revolted.

No avenue was left for the opportunist Media and Intelligentsia to escape and they crossed the Fence. It changed the color of the censored, sponsored and managed informations leaking out of Bengal.

Buddhadev entrapped PLUMB!

And the irony is that Left has no way to oust Buddha as he represents well the BHdralok Brahmin Bengal ruling Class and he serves in the best interest of the Ruling Hindutva Zionist Class!

It is rue that Nandigram had been a strong base of the Left thanks to Enblock support from the majority Muslims. As soon as slim entered, the scenerio changed suddenly. In the last assembelly elections CPI candidate Ilius Mohammad won the set with 69,376 votes! Then, TMC candiadte Shaikh Supin got 65,553 votes! The Congress candidate provided the Escape route as he polled 4,953 votes.

CPIM had to Bear This!
Left is never habitual to face any resistance. It is so despotic that it has left no space for democracy. Thus Nandigaram Had To Be Recaptured!

IN New delhi: Under fire from its detractors over the Nandigram incidents, the CPI(M) asked its West Bengal unit to examine what went wrong as it admitted that "some mistakes" have been committed while handling the affair. The three-day meeting of the party's Central Committee, the first after the police firing, deliberated the issue and concluded that it was unfortunate that ordinary people have died in the violence which should not be repeated again.

"The Central Committee has noted that some mistakes have been committed in the handling of the affair as stated by the West Bengal Chief Minister," said party General Secretary Prakash Karat.

In Kolkata: Condemning the state government’s attempts to coerce farmers into giving up their plots of farmland for industrialisation, the artist fraternity today demanded a speedy inquiry be conducted into the Nandigram carnage.
The main demand in the 10-point memorandum submitted to Governor Mr Gopalkrishna Gandhi today was that the true number of those killed or wounded in police firing on 14 March be investigated and severe punishment be meted out to those responsible for the carnage. The role of police in the incident should be looked into and the state government should arrange for the treatment of the wounded, the memorandum read.
Intellectuals under the banner of Forum of Artists, Cultural Activists and Intellectuals, demanded the murderers of Rajkumar Bhul and Tapasi Malik in Singur be identified without delay. They further urged the government to return those plots of farmland that had been forcibly taken away from farmers in Singur for the Tata Motors small car factory. The location for an industry should be decided on only after consultations with peasants, environmentalists, social scientists, soil scientists and industrialists, the memorandum read.
The letter also sought the Governor’s intervention to reopen the closed tea gardens in the Doars and to ensure re-employment of workers who were currently jobless. n sns

Indian activists protest government land seizures. (AP/Gurinder Osan)
April 4, 2007
Prepared by: Lee Hudson Teslik

India’s torrid economic expansion over the past five years delighted investors internationally, but the inevitable shakeouts of rapid growth are starting to rub some nerves raw at home. Thousands of Indian farmers battled police (Telegraph) in the country’s West Bengal state in March, protesting government plans to confiscate their land and turn it into a special economic zone (SEZ). After fourteen deaths and chastisement from groups like Amnesty International, the state abandoned its plans for the SEZ. But after reviewing the SEZ policy, India’s Prime Minister announced in late March that new zones will continue to go up across India (Jurnalo).

How 'they' can spoil India Inc's dream

Govindraj Ethiraj

April 04, 2007

Sometime in the mid-90s, in the era of 17 per cent interest rates, I was speaking with an on-the-ascent industrialist with interests in, well, mostly steel. Sitting back in his recently refurbished office in Mumbai's Nariman Point, he spoke of the many new opportunities that were springing up, in telecom, power and even the media.

The conversation turned to the location of his plant in coastal Maharashtra, where most of his present investments were going. I remarked that another metals company was going to set up a large plant there. "Oh that," he said, "they won't allow it to come up." "How do you know that," I asked. "Just wait and watch," he said.

He was right, the company in question had to pack its bags and go south, where it faced a fresh round of environmental problems but come up it did. My interlocuter's own diversification efforts into power, announced with considerable fanfare and ministerial blessings, ran into truckloads of opposition later. "They" did not spare him, either. Even today, it's not clear where that project, worth billions of dollars, stands.

SEZ cap plea, silent prayer: A Telegraph story
OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT
New Delhi, April 3: Cautious after Nandigram, the CPIM plans to propose a 5,000-acre cap on special economic zones (SEZs) but could be silently praying the Centre does not accept it.

The party also announced that it will review all industrialisation projects — not SEZs alone — in Bengal that require large-scale land acquisition and where the farmers have not given consent.

CPM general secretary Prakash Karat told a news conference the politburo has decided there should be a 2,000-hectare (5,000-acre) ceiling on SEZs.

“Some of the proposed SEZs have huge tracts of land,” he said.

At least two such have been planned in Bengal: the Salim Group’s chemical SEZ spread across 10,000 acres that was to come up in Nandigram and a 12,500-acre multi-product SEZ.

“Whether it is Salim projects or not, the party has asked us to take the farmers into confidence and strengthen the political process wherever a big chunk of land is needed to be acquired,’’ central committee member Benoy Konar said.

Chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee — and his party, which fully backs his industrialisation campaign but must be seen in public as speaking up for farmers — will be hoping the Centre rejects the ceiling so that the CPM can have its cake and eat it, too.

“The government will first have to accept the cap,” Karat stressed.

He might be banking on a section within the Union cabinet, which is a strong votary of SEZs, to ensure the ceiling is rejected. Some Congress-led state governments have planned SEZs bigger than 5,000 acres. At present there is no cap on land.

In February, the CPM had suggested that SEZs larger than 5,000 acres be developed by the government or PSUs. This was before 14 people were killed in police firing while resisting land acquisition in Nandigram, putting Bhattacharjee and his party in the dock.

The new rules guiding the special economic zones (SEZ) may put a question mark on six sanctioned projects in Maharashtra, home to the largest number of SEZs. The empowered group of ministers had on Thursday stopped state governments from acquiring land for SEZs promoted by private players. The rules are applicable to SEZs cleared after February 10, 2006. On the other hand,
amidst fresh demands from CPM on the controversial Special Economic Zone issue, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said SEZ is now a fact of life but any changes could be considered.
"SEZ law is a fact of life. A Group of Minister (GoM) is looking into what guidelines can be formulated," he said on the sidelines of Defence Investiture ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The ongoing SEZ controversy continued to brew with the CPI(M) not only rejecting the proposals of the empowered group of ministers (eGoM) but threatening to rake up the issue in Parliament, if the Centre did not pay heed to its suggestion.

On the other hand, the CPI, which was initially open to the concept of SEZ, has suddenly turned around and joined the other Left constituents in demanding scrapping of the policy. The CPI(M) remains the only Left outfit, which wants the policy to be implemented with with certain changes.

in a bid to protect their land

Tension on Wednesday prevailed in a dozen seaside villages near Paradip, the site for South Korean major Posco's proposed steel plant, due to a face-off between a large contingent of armed police and villagers opposed to the project. Apprehending that personnel standing by at Kujang police station might swoop down on their villages to clear bamboo gates they had erected to bar the entry of government officials and security forces, the villagers were preparing themselves to resist any police action. The administration, however, asserted that police wanted to remove the bamboo gates as panchayat polls, which could not be held in 13 booths in the area in February, were to be conducted there. It said there was no link to the Posco project.

There are reports that the govt is not letting people access to bodies of relatives, in fact bodies are being put in plastic bags and thrown into the sea.

A recent study shows that West Bengal is a leader with respect to redistribution of land to Dalit and Adivasi households.

IN the heat of the current debate on land acquisition in West Bengal, and in the aftermath of the violence in Nandigram, some critics have questioned the basic character of development in the State. They have attempted variously to portray the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Left Front as organisations of upper-caste elites whose interests, by implication, are distant from those of the socially oppressed, or West Bengal as a State where the plight of the Dalit and Adivasi masses, under globalisation and liberalisation, is no different from their plight elsewhere in the country. Even preliminary research on Dalit and Adivasi households in village economies and their access to land in West Bengal shows that such views have little basis in the reality of the post-land reform West Bengal countryside.

Make us boys, cry girls
- Study exposes widespread child abuse, shatters myth and rips veil
CHARU SUDAN KASTURI

New Delhi, April 9: Hang your head in shame, Grown-up India. Almost half your girls want to be boys because of the way you treat them.

Overcome by a feeling of neglect and apathy, over 48 per cent girls surveyed for a first-ever nation-wide study on child abuse have said they would rather be boys.

More than 70 per cent said they felt “neglected” by their parents in a damning indictment of Adult India that has yet to come to terms with the horror of Nithari.

As many as 12,447 children in the 12-18 age group were each asked 135 questions in what the government said was the largest such survey ever conducted in the world. Spread across 13 states and carried out over two years, the survey covered 5,981 girls, too.

Bengal, the self-professed capital of political correctness and concern for others, has a wart too many to hide.

the Kuki rebels are coming together in Manipur, in India's heartland the dreaded Naxal militants are also forging new links, which many say is behind the new and bloody chapter of Naxal violence.

But is the unity real or is it to conceal personality clashes and competing violence between these groups in India's red corridor?

Inside the forests along the borders between Jharkhand and Orissa, Naxal leaders from across the country are once again displaying their new unified strength.

In September 2004, the two biggest Naxal groups, the People's War led by Andhra Naxalites and MCC or Maoist Communist Centre, the Jharkhand based Naxal outfit, formally merged.

The merger created the CPI Maoist - an umbrella Naxal force stretching from Andhra, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Orissa to Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh - literally a red corridor through the heart of the nation.

Having revised short-term lending rates at regular intervals in the past few months, the Reserve Bank shares concerns of the IMF on the impact of capital flows and remains worried over continuing inflationary expectations. Concerns raised by RBI Governor Y V Reddy in his interaction with industry and financial market representatives ahead of monetary policy review are similar to a warning sounded by the international monetary fund against the "volatility shock" in the emerging markets.

Apparently rejecting criticism that RBI`s frequent rate hikes may stunt growth, Finance Minister P Chidambaram today said world over central banks were taking such measures to contain inflation.

"Inflation expectations loom large in most parts of the world. Therefore, many central banks have responded pro-actively to tighten liquidity so that inflation is held in check," he told global market regulators here. Voicing concern over the uncertainties on global interest and exchange rates, he said they posed a potential threat to financial stability of the emerging economies.

Chidambaram foresaw many challenges before the capital markets and said every country should be prepared to meet the challenges of globalisation. "Inflow and outflow of capital would continue to pose difficult problems. We have to live with some degree of volatility in the equity market, forex market and debt market irrespective of the level of capital account convertibility."
Emerging Asia, driven by fast-growing giants China and India, faces a "very positive" near-term growth outlook and should be able to withstand a U.S. slowdown, the International Monetary Fund said on Wednesday.

Questions remain, however, about demand for electronics exports from countries like South Korea, Taiwan and ASEAN countries, and some countries face the risk of a shock if the Japanese yen carry trade unwinds dramatically, the IMF said in its twice-yearly World Economic Outlook.

China, meanwhile, is still experiencing excessive investment, much of it by inefficient state-owned enterprises whose investments are a burden on banks and on corporate profits, it said.

The IMF forecast that emerging Asia as a whole would grow 8.4 percent in 2007 and 8.0 percent in 2008, with regional locomotive China's growth for the two years to be 10 percent and 9.5 percent, respectively. India is expected to expand 8.5 percent this year and 7.8 percent in 2008, the outlook said.

"One question in assessing growth prospects for the region is how a sharper-than-expected slowdown in the United States would affect the region," the IMF said.

Fallout from a U.S. slowdown would be "relatively well contained" because, with the key exception of China, importance to the region of the U.S. market has declined amid growing inter-regional trade, the report said.

In addition, a U.S. slowdown centered on the American housing sector would have a muted effect on demand for Asian exports, while demand for electronics remained mostly firm, the IMF said.

"Against this background, the near-term outlook for growth in the region remains very positive," it said.

"On the downside, a sharper-than-anticipated slowdown in the demand for Asian exports in general, and electronic goods in particular, could undercut growth," the IMF warned.

Terming the contents of the CD brought out by the BJP in Uttar Pradesh as "inflammatory" and "offensive", the National Commission of Minorities (NCM) today asked both the Central and state governments to take serious note of the development and its grave implications for communal peace. The Election Commission has adjourned the hearing on the controversial CD released by the BJP and plea to de-recognise the party till Thursday.Meanwhile, the BJP continues to take on Election Commissioner Naveen Chawla. Subject: CPI(M) Attack on Keshab Mukherjee, Editor, Swadhin Bangla
Protest Meeting on 12th March, 2007, 8B Bus Stand, Jadavpur
Dear Friend,
On 7th April, Saturday, an armed violent mob, claiming allegiance to CPI(M) , brutally attacked a street corner meeting of APDR arranged to protest against the genocides and atrocities at Singur, Nanigram and other places of West Bengal. The incident happened at about 7-30 pm near 8B bus stand at Jadavpur in front of a large number of common people. Even the pedstrians, who tried to protest, were mercilessly beaten up. Women were nor spared either. Keshab Mukherjee, editor of 'Swadhin Bangla', had been greviously injured and is still rocvering in hospital from rib fracture, head inury and other very serious injuries. Let us all unequvocally condemn in the harshest tone such fascist assault on democratic rights with a view to throttle any voice of discontent through terrorization.
A protest meeting to voice our condemnation has been arranged at 8B bus stand at Jadavpur on 12th March 2007. Please join the meeting and invite everybody with democratic ethos to the same.

After more than 12 years, SFI was routed! News just in. For once, SFI/CPM cannot cry that their opposing students fell to false propaganda. These students represent the truth that PD articles
try to hide by its propaganda. They are the college students of Nandigram. Yes, Nandigram, where the Congress won the assembly seat only ONCE in the last 40 years, yes people, only ONCE IN 40 YEARS.

Strike fizzles out on JU campus - SFI at Writers' with assault complaints, pledged drastic steps A STAFF REPORTER Jadavpur University (JU) defied the students' strike on Monday, called by the SFI to protest vandalism on the campus on the night of April 5. Elsewhere in the city, classes were disrupted on campuses where the SFI controls the students' union. SFI supporters at JU could not prevent classes from being held, despite attempts at convincing students to join the protest. The bandh-supporters even tried to form a barricade at one of the gates, but police
deployed outside the campus were quick to disperse them. Members of the SFI state committee met chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee at Writers' Buildings in the afternoon and sought his intervention in restoring normalcy at JU, on the boil since We the Independents (WTI) swept the science faculty election. In their memorandum to the chief minister, the leaders alleged that two supporters were beaten up at JU and five at Jogesh Chandra College. "The chief minister promised drastic steps to restore a democratic atmosphere at JU," said Apurba Chatterjee, SFI state secretary. At Medical College and Hospital, SFI supporters tried to close a classroom but were outnumbered by students wanting to attend class. Most classes were suspended at Calcutta University. At Presidency College, 10-odd SFI supporters put up posters and shouted slogans, but classes were held as usual. Members of the JU Karmachari Sansad, observing an indefinite ceasework demanding
arrest of those who had ransacked their office on April 5, refused to unlock the classrooms. But that had little effect, as teachers opted to take classes in their offices. By 11 am, the 100-odd SFI supporters trying to enforce the bandh seemed to have lost steam, as representatives of the students' unions of all three faculties arranged for the classrooms to be opened. The Jadavpur University Teachers' Association organised a sit-in on the campus in support of two of their colleagues accused of beating up WTI members, but only 100 of the 1,000-plus teachers could be seen at the venue. The SFI supporters quit the university gates by noon, but announced in the evening that they would hold a rally on the campus on Tuesday. Students, teachers and non-teaching staff members of other institutions have been invited to the meeting. Students expressed fear that outsiders are being brought in only to assault anti-SFI
students. IV. From: "ekak matra"
The Jadavpur University Incident on 5 April You must be concerned about the entire incident that took place throughout the day of 5th April. It was the day when the results of the student union elections of FETSU and SFSU were to be declared. It must be mentioned in this regard that the AFSU results were oust just a couple o days back and the year old Forum for Arts Students won over SFI in all the 4 seats, which SFI were holding for the past decade. On the 5th, as SFSU results came out, expectedly SFI was white washed in all the 4 seats by WTI. Then as the FETSU result counting was going on, the victorious WTI, along with general students brought out a victory rally, which is a very common feature. Now as it reached ‘science club’. All SFI members, along
with a 100 of staff members of the CPM staff union, came out with banners, flags of CPM and rods, pretending to bring out a rally. It must be noted here that the rally was issueless. The presence of more than 100 plus staff members at that point f time in their union office without any prior planning is also unexplainable. And finally the presence of large number of sticks and CPM flags, planted in iron rods demonstrated their well planned intentions. It was not long before a tussle broke out, and it also be added that two teachers of Mathematics department took noticeable roles in bashing his own students. A complain has been lodged against them with the authority. Then with the intervention of some responsible student and staff members further trouble was averted. Such hostile behavior of the CPM staff union is not new. The SFI which is extremely marginalized in the entire JU campus has often depended on such unfair tricks to assert their
presence and to try and intimidate the general students. We have heard of the condemnable role of the staff union in the 1996, when at night the lights were cut off inside the Aurobindo Bhavan during a movement and the students were brutally beaten up. We still remember their hostile role in the students’ movement of 2001 and on the fasting students during the exam system movement of 2003. When everything else fails, the police tries to crack our morale, as in the 2005 movement, but only manage to crack just a few bones. Each such incident only makes the student more organized and determined. The 1996 incident brought into existence WTI, the 2005 incident led to the formation of FAS. And today we can see their mass support and acceptability. Democratic Students’ Front also consolidated its roots among the general students after an incident of massive police brutality in a movement in 1978 and has ever since been a very strong movemental organization of

Nandigram saga

Many witnesses to the Nandigram carnage were not given a fair hearing by Mr Balbir Ram, divisional commissioner, Burdwan zone, yesterday at the Talmuk headquarters, alleged anti-land-grab protesters who had formed a human shield at Bhangabhera and Gokulnagar to prevent police from going into the villages on 14 March.
Bhumi Uchched Pratirodh Committee and Trinamul Congress leaders had earlier requested the district administration to take eyewitness’ account of the carnage at Nandigram instead of Tamluk headquarters. They had argued that it was difficult for witnesses from the strife-torn Sonachura and Gokulnagar to reach Tomluk, 60 km away from Nandigram. They also said the poor villagers who had registered as eyewitnesses to the carnage would be hard-pressed to bear the bus fare to Nandigram. But the district administration turned down the request. As a result, most of the anti-land-acquisition protesters failed to turn up at Tamluk today to narrate their account of the carnage before Mr Ram. Mr Sisir Adhikari, district secretary of Trinamul Congress and MLA, said: “The district administration did not bother to inform us of the location of taking eyewitness’ account of the Nandigram carnage. We shall do everything in our power to seek justice for the victims of the carnage.” CPI-M party workers, however, brought some witnesses, allegedly sponsored by the CPI-M, at the district headquarters under their protection. The session continued for more than six hours till evening. Mr Balbir Ram, divisional commissioner, Burdwan zone, said: “If the people of Nandigram face any kind of problem, we shall provide security to them so that they can reach Tamluk safely to give their accounts of the day before the probe team.”
The process is likely to continue for a few more days because a large number of people have registered as witnesses to the carnage that took place on 14 March at Bhangabhera and Gokulnagar.
Several lawyers of Kolkata have demanded that central security forces take charge of Nandigram village where violence over takeover of farmland for industry claimed 14 lives last month.
Members of the Calcutta High Court Bar Association and others visited Nandigram April 6 and talked to a large number of villagers.

Jayant Mitra, one of the 26 lawyers who went to the village, said the team was shocked by accounts of villagers about what happened March 14 when the police opened fire on protesting villagers.
"We want the central police force to take charge of the village and restore normalcy there," Mitra said.

The lawyers said they spoke to women who alleged torture by the police. "They are living in a state of fear," said Shaktinath Mukherjee, another lawyer. He said the villagers had lost all faith in the state police.

The government is likely to move the Supreme Court on Wednesday to vacate the stay on 27 per cent quota for OBCs in IIMs, IITs and other centrally aided institutions. The court had stayed the quota for the current academic year for want of adequate data on OBCs.

There's been uncertainty among a large number of applicants to all these institutions who are waiting for the results. The government had ordered these institutions not to declare their results till the Supreme Court took a decision on the stay. The first results slated to be declared were those of the IIMs on Thursday.

Maoists may have used sea route to land in Nandigram: Karat

Ranchi, April 10: Senior CPI-M leader Brinda Karat today claimed that Maoists may have used a sea route to reach Nandigram and create trouble there.

"The ultras might have used the sea route from somewhere in Bengal to reach Nandigram to create disturbances," polit bureau member Karat told a press conference here without giving details.

She alleged the "Bhumi Ucched Pratirodh Committee", which was leading the protest against land acquisition there, was sheltering the Maoists who had supported it in an open letter.

"The open letter is a serious issue. But we did not hear a single statement from the Trinamool Congress about it," she said.

She alleged that Maoists hiding in Jharkhand often crossed the state border to commit crimes in West Bengal.

Concrete steps through coordinated efforts are required to end the "serious" problem in Jharkhand, she said.

"The state should have a policy on how to get over the problem and place its action plan before the Centre," she said.

On "threat" letters issued by the Maoists to politicians, Karat said it was serious and called for immediate steps to address it.

The Maoists had reportedly issued separate letters to Jharkhand Deputy Chief Minister Sudhir Mahto and state Congress president Pradeep Kumar Balmachu.

While the Maoists warned Mahto for allegedly issuing statements against them, Balmachu did not reveal the content of the letter he received.

"The state government should think over how to get over the situation. Otherwise, it will affect political work," Karat said.

CPI(ML) Team In Nandigram: Summary Of Findings

(A 20-member CPI(ML) team comprising Party General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, West Bengal State Secretary Kartick Pal, senior state leaders Dr. Partha Ghosh, Shankar Mitra, Meena Pal and Chaitali Sen, AISA leader Malay Tewari and editor of the Party's Bengali weekly organ Deshabrati Animesh Chakraborty visited the carnage-ravaged areas and people of Nandigram on 17 March. They also talked to injured victims undergoing medical treatment at the district hospital at Tamluk and the extremely under-equipped and over-crowded health centre at Nandigram. They heard reports of most horrendous killings of unarmed people, gangrapes and brutal assaults on women and children, met several people who were desperately looking for missing family members and were shocked to see very few young girls and children among the survivors in the carnage-ravaged villages of Bhangabeda, Sonachura and Gokulnagar. What follows is a brief report of the team's findings).

US President George W Bush invited Democrats to the White House on Tuesday to discuss a standoff over a bill that provides for more than $100 billion to pay for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"When it comes to funding our troops, we have no time to waste. It's time for them to get the job done."

"So I'm inviting congressional leaders from both parties, both political parties, to meet with me at the White House next week," said George W Bush, US President.

But he made it clear that he would not reconsider his opposition to withdrawing troops from Iraq.

Even as India’s burgeoning economy grabs global attention and India’s new transnationals grab foreign companies, concern still persists in the United States over the social issues that may delay or even sidetrack industrial projects, especially given the largescale protests over the Tata Motors small car project in Singur, West Bengal. And when a group of Indian MPs came to New York, they found this controversy attracting attention and worried questions.

Six Indian MPs came to New York as part of a delegation of the India-US Forum of Parliamentarians. And they were invited by the prestigious Asia Society to discuss Special Economic Zones. The focus though was on the Tatas’ controversial Singur project, and the panel spent its time debating and disagreeing over a possible solution.

Babasaheb with his superior intellect had never fallen a prey to marxism which has killed Dalit movement in Bengal, Kerala and to some extent in AP also.
Ambedkar, B. R. 1990. Annnihilation of Caste: An Undelivered Speech. Edited by Mulk Raj Anand. New Delhi: Arnold Publishers.

The movement for liberation of the sixty-five million if not more untouchables have been initiated by this pioneer, Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. Born in a low-caste family on April 14th 1891, in Mhow, Maharashtra. He left the Hindu faith and converted to Buddhism in 1956, along with more than a million of his followers. He died on December 6th, 1956.

But an increasing number of fundamentalist Hindus promote the caste system and incite many young people against reservation in seats of knowledge, jobs, equality of opportunity and other privileges given by Parliament to the underprivilege. Some Hindu chauvinist political parties have launched campaigns against the emergent Dalits, frequently using violent means.

India`s shame are the so called dalit intellectuals who honoured Buddhadev Bhattacharya and his gang of Caste Hindu anti dalit ministers! West bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee on wednesday said reservation was not the only way for liberation of dalits, but the present policy of reservation in the fields of employment and education would not be withdrawn. "we leftists think that reservation is not the only way of liberating dalits. what we need is extensive land reforms in eliminating the evils of feudalism and consequent casteist vices," Bhattacharjee told a function here organised by dalit intellectuals to felicitate ministers and mlas of the sixth left front belonging to the backward classes. the chief minister, however, made it clear that his government had no immediate plans to do away with the present policy of reservation in the field of education and employment. the school service commission and college service commission had been instructed accordingly.

CPIM has constituted a pocket organisation Dalit samanyaya samiti, which is entrusted with the most important task to kill the Dalit movement in West Bengal. This samiti mobilises so called dalit intellectuals, the creamy layer created by quota and reservation who happen to be different departments of the state government and belong to colleges and universities. There is no doubt, a micro-minority is ruling India. The real problem is how long the majority Backwards will cuddle with it and keep cursing them. The Brahmin strength is in money, trade and media power with which they have been controlling us. Our strength is unity and our massive numbers. The message is loud and clear. If we exploit our strength and achieve unity we will soon capture Delhi. If Brahmins can run the govt. with our help, I fail to understand why it is then difficult for us to run it with Brahmin support. And Buddhadev serves best Brahminical interests!

Cpim does not allow any mass mobilisation against Brahminical system. These numbered dalit intellectuals who ensure their attendence in any Left sponsored progrramme in a hope to get promotion or intensive or just in an attempt to save the job! They celebrate Ambedkar Birth anniversary and hijack any dalit uprising in West Bengal!

While the Dalit Sahitya sanstha has joined the movement led by Kolkata Intellectuals and everyone seems to hang Buddhadev, these In Laws felicicitate Buddhadev?

Are these gentlemen and ladies have the right to be claimed as dalits? They have the job thanks to party backing and quota and reservation, while the worthy candidates are deprived. deprived candidates are also tamed as they may get any job in Bengal only after they prove to be committed to Party Interests!

There were Dalit movements during the colonial period in Maharasthra among the Mahars. There is a study of Ad-Dharm movement in the Punjab in Mark Juergensmeyer’s Religion as Social Vision: The Movement Against Untouchability in 20th Century Punjab. (Berkeley: University of California). The Illava movement of Narayana Guru in Kerala has now been covered in at least a dozen recent books. There were Dalit movements during the colonial period also in western U.P. (the Adi-Hindu movement), Bengal (Namashudras),Tamil Nadu (Adi-Drividas), coastal Andhra (Adi-Andhras), and Hyderabad (Adi-Hindus). In addition there were unorgainzed Dalit assertions in such areas as Mysore and Bihar (Omvedt 1994:10).

There has been a continuous growth and change of Ambedkar’s movement. There were new developments and publications in the field of Buddhist conversion; the Dalit Panthers arose as a new force; the movement began to produce literature of such quantity and quality that Dalit Sahitya became a prominent part of the Marathi literary scene, and spread to the neighbouring states of Gujarat and Karnataka. (1992:introduction)

There was a group of movements among the Untouchables of Madras, although neither this movement nor others among the Ilavas of the Malabar coast, the Chamars of Chhatisgarh area, the Depressed Classes, chiefly Chamars and Churas, of the Punjab or the Namashudras of Bengal, were as sustained and all-encompassing as that among the Mahars of Maharashtra, the largest Untouchable caste in the area now called Maharasthra where this group constitute about ten percent of the population (1992:33 and 155). The political movement which the Mahars have dominated has never been confined exclusively to their caste and from 1936 has included non-Marathi speaking groups. Since 1956, a majority of Mahars have converted to Buddhism and no longer use the caste name (:118).

These dalit intellectuals betray the dalits as the leftists do always. They have no libality and refuse the return due to the legacy of Babasahib for the reservation and quota, on basis of which they enjoy envible status amongst the underclasses! The caste hindu intellectuals never recognise them! They are often used as tools.Ambedkar fought for the dignity of Dalits. The Hindu Varnavyavastha snatched the dignity from Dalits. It degraded labour. The person who works hard to earn his bred was considered lowest while the Brahmins with their narrow minded tainted vision became 'Bhoodevatas', gods on the earth. The bloodsucking Gods had inherently anti Dalit bias. So angry was Ambedkar with the Hindu law book, which he considered as the source of caste system and discrimination against Daltis in India that he launched a movement against it.

Mosty shameful is this dire incidence, not less serious than Nandigram and Marich Jahapi massacres, taht these intellectuals mostly belong to the militant dalit community NAMOSHUDRA, which opened the window for Ambed kar to get a seat in the constitution Assembely. It is for the Namoshudras only , that SC, ST, OBC reservation was possible despite violent opposition from all caste hindu quarters. Ambedkar had been never supported by Communists in the history and now they encash Abedkar only due to these Creamy Layer Namoshudras!

Dalit movement has a rich history of rationalism and humanism. In fact, the historical evolution took place with Buddha's revolt against Varnashram dharma. Buddha not only rejected supremacy of Brahmins but also of the Shastras. Sanskrit was the language of the Brahmins and knowledge their sole domain and Buddha not only demolished their knowledge base of Brahmins but also popularized among the masses by sermonizing in Prakrit. Namoshudras were originally Buddhist who had to be converted with resurgence of Hindutva and import of Brahmins from Kannoj by Sen dynasty. Thus, the DOMs as Namoshudras were originally knwn were outcasted and condemned to be the lowest caste in Bengal. They were once again punished for their successful support to Ambedkar. The base of dalit movement was destroyed systemetically as the militant Namoshudra Community was evicted from their land in west Bengal under the cover of partition and they were further scattered all over india, depriving them minimum human and civil rights.

But this tradition of revolt continued at the later stage also. All the indigenous reform movement and religions in India had inherently revolted against the Brahmanical value system, which gave divine sanction to untouchability and caste system. After Buddha, Mahavir Swami rejected the notion of caste and violence in the brahmanical structure. Even the birth of Sikhism is related to the caste prejudices rampant in varnashram dharma system. In the 15th century Kabir talked of rejection of caste system and talked of one God. He attacked rituals and Shastras and talked of a society based on equality.Dalit groups. The worst fact is the Ambedkar is mainly known among the working class Dalits and enlightened and numerically powerful communities like Mahars in Maharastra, Chamars and Jatavs in the North India, Namshudras in West Bengal, Malas in Andhra and a few others in Tamilnadu. While Mahars hold sway in Maharastra and the Jatavs and Chamars outnumber any other community in the north contributed fairly to Ambedkarisation process. That helped people under the banner ofBahujan Political Party which used it as a vehicle to spread its wing.

The communists of Bengal , led by Buddha and biman helped Brahmin Pranab Mukherjee and NDA Hindu rashtra government to pass the citizenship act to declare the Namoshudra Refugees from east Bengal illegal immigrants. Thirteen Lac names were deleted from Voters` List in West Bengal only! A national Drive is on to deport the Namoshudras out of bengal. The Ambedkarite movement rarely talk of violence and violation of human rights. Their obsession with Manu Smriti and Hindu Gods to joke at took a perverted turn as one of the major problem that the Dalits face is to get acknowledgement from the caste Hindus. That a majority of Dalits despite all the facts, go the temples of the Brahmins and follow the same rituals. But these issues are seldom addressed in true sense. They are used as a rhetoric to lumpen the brahmanical system. The system will not go unless we want to get rid of it. The reason for not raising the issue of violence of Dalits is that many 'intellectual' feel 'uncomfortable' on this issue as they used their identity to get the entry into the media and would talk of 'philosophy'. Today, the same intellectuals have left all the work of the brahmanical system and now target the backward communities. Why has the Dalit movement changed its track from anti brahmanical campaign to anti backward campaign?

And Now The Namoshudra Intellectuals stand by the muderer of nandigram!
Shame!
Shame!
Shame!

Under the census of 1901 there were 47,048,581 Muslims in northern India (Punjab, Kashmir, UP, Bihar, Bengal and Orissa) out of which 8,628, 566 were shown as Arjal (inferior) Muslims; Shri V. R. Shinde thinks that they were probably original Antyaj or untouchables. A good number of Dalits were converted to Christianity, especially in Kerala. Under the census of 1931, among the Pariah untouchables, 70,684 were Hindus, whereas 71,680 were Christians. Among the Pulayas 207,337 were Hindus, whereas 15777,813 were Christians. The Dalit leaders like Pampady John Joseph (Kerala), Rev. John Rathnam (TN) and Gurram Jashua (AP) were prominent among the converts. Iyakanu Pulawar (Karnataka) and M. Y. Murugesan (Karnataka) took the initiative in reviving Buddhism. Dr. Ambedkar converted to Buddhism along with millions of followers at Nagpur in 1956 (:412).

Social Dialecticism: Due to untouchability the whole Hindu society was divided into touchables and the untouchables. The touchables were to enjoy all the civil rights, whereas the untouchables were not to enjoy any right. The untouchables were to fulfil the duties imposed by the touchables. Their interests were diametrically opposed to each other (:413).

However, with the advent of British in India, the whole legal system was changed. The dialectic was not limited to civil rights only. It was in vogue in the field of economic uplift (:413). Dalit leaders like Ayyan Kali had to fight against serfdom in Kerala (:414).

The Communist movement was invariably in the hands of the high caste people and they could not realize the crucial role of caste in the Indian social structure. Neither had they any plan to exterminate untouchability nor had they any grasp of that problem (:414).

In order to fight against the socio-economic problems, Dr. Ambedkar formed the Independent Labour Party in 1936. He was of the view that all the key industries, including agriculture should be nationalized in the interest of the nation as a whole (:414).

Politicization:

Dr. Ambedkar said: "the problem of the Depressed classes will never be solved unless they get political power in their own hands. If this is true, and I do not think that the contrary can be maintaind, then the problem of the Depressed classes is, I submit eminently, a political problem and must be treated as such." (Bhagwandas., ed. 1963. Thus Spoke Ambedkar. Vol. I. Jullundur: Bheem Patrika Publications. p. 24.) (:415)

Mohan, P.E. 1993. Scheduled Castes: History of Elevation, Tamil Nadu, 1900-1955. Madras: New Era Publications.

According to the 1981 census, they numbered 18.35 percent of the population.

For all their posturing about the underprivileged, Congress and Marxist policies merely serve to perpetuate poverty.Paradoxically, one of the states that did not have a quota system is West Bengal which even today is not very enthusiastic about it. The cost, in terms of having a fractured society among students and also faculty in central institutions because of the quota system, is too high. There is only one exception: In West Bengal the proportion of upper castes has increased in the state assembly after 1977, after the Left Front came to power. A coincidence? Not if you calculate the caste composition of successive Left Front ministries: About two thirds of the ministers come from the top three jatis (Brahman, Boddis, Kayasthas). Perhaps you did not notice that West Bengal was the last major state to come out with an OBC list to implement Mandal. You might say, the CPM believes in class, not caste. Fair enough, but then why is the CPM in Delhi so aggressive about championing Mandal? Why does it present itself as more Mandalite than thou?

Or read the data supplied by the West Bengal government to the Sachar Committee. With 25.2 per cent of Muslim population, the state government has provided just 2.1 per cent of the government jobs to Muslims. West Bengal has the worst record of all Indian states in this respect. Gujarat has just 9.1 per cent Muslims and has 5.4 per cent Muslims among government employees. The irony, of course, is that the CPM was the first party to come out with a statement demanding implementation of the Sachar Report!

Decades of Marxist rule in West Bengal has left the most vulnerable groups, rural SC/ST and OBC women, worse off than before! This is truly disturbing. Can we say 'Marxist casteism and anti-feminism'?This year, V S Achuthanandan, another Ezhava CM aspirant, was told not to contest, although after an uproar he is indeed contesting. But VS has been defeated -- some say with malice aforethought -- before in a 'safe' Marxist seat.Incidentally, the Marxists have taken great care not to have OBC or SC/ST or women become chief ministers. In Kerala, this is a very sore point for Ezhavas, who form the bulk of Marxist support. Ezhava women leaders who were positioned before elections as CM-designate, K R Gowri and Sushila Gopalan, were denied it on flimsy grounds after elections, and the post given to 'forward-caste' men.

Agriculture vs Industry: Is rehabilitation the answer? The West Bengal Human Rights Commission on Friday issued a suo motu direction to the DGP and IGP to investigate allegations of rape and torture of women by police and CPI(M) cadres at Nandigram.Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee today reiterated that the West Bengal Government must return land to the unwilling farmers in Singur for restoration of peace in the area.
'In West Bengal? and Kerala the Left-led land reform movements have not only reinforced female seclusion and dowry among upper castes, but extended them to scheduled castes as well. That has led to land alienation and eroded land reform. Dalits are known to muster resources for payment of dowry by selling off land they won through reform.'

The article quotes research by Praveena Kodoth in Economic and Political Weekly. (June 18-24, 2005) which, it says, 'reveals that land reform movements in Bengal and Kerala have failed to address the gendered modes of power and social relations. It shows how participation of women in rural (farm) work across social groups in Bengal and Kerala has, in the long term, declined due to land reform.'

Some Unanswered Questions From The Frontline Reports

Gandhi and scavenging

Frontline magazine’s September 22nd, 2006 issue gave wide coverage to the issue of scavengers in India including one famous quote of Gandhi’. ‘I may not be born again, but if it happens, I will like to be born into a family of scavengers, so that I may relieve, them if the inhuman, unhealthy and hateful practice of carrying nightsoil.’ It is rather strange that Gandhi is often quoted by the upper caste to justify their stand and prove a certain point because in their own wisdom, there was no one else except Gandhi who fought against the cause of untouchability. It is another matter that none of them ever questioned Gandhi and his various act of idiocies. Above quote clearly means that Gandhi fully believed that untouchability is not going to finish and he would have to take another birth to get rid of it.

Ofcourse, Gandhi was right that such heinous practice would not end but untouchables or Dalits perhaps do not need Gandhi’s sage advice to end scavenging. They are powerful enough to lead the movements as the story of frontline clearly reflect. In fact, Frontline would have researched a bit more and look Gandhi’s writing in the various issues of Harijan, on the issue of untouchability, whether he really was interested in the eradication of untouchability or supported the caste system. Dr Bhagwan Das, eminent Ambedkarite and scholar has time and again said that Gandhi was least interested in the emancipation of the Dalits in general and scavengers in particular. He quotes on many occasions how Gandhi justified the caste-based profession of the Dalits. Said Gandhi :

“ I do not advice untouchables to give up their trades and professions. One born a scavenger must earn his livelihood by being a scavenger and then do whatever else he likes. For a scavenger is as worthy of his hire as a lawyer or your president. That according to me is Hinduism. ( Harijan 6th March, 1937)

Further, Gandhi might have said that he would like to be born in the untouchable family yet he was no revolutionary to condemn the caste system. Even in Africa, he was not at all fighting for the rights of the black Africans but the caste Hindus who feel offended at clubbing together with the black community in Africa or elsewhere. Says Gandhi :

“My Opinion against sweepers strike dates back to about 1897 when I was in Durban. A general strike was mooted there and the question arose as to whether scavengers should join it. My vote was registered against the strike proposal.,,,, In spite of my close attachments to sweepers, better cause of it, I must denounce the coercive method they are said to have employed. They will thereby be losers in the long run. City folks will not always be cowed down. A bhangi may not give up his work even for a day. ( Harijan 21st April 1946)”

Mr Bhagwan Das has referred this narrative many times how Gandhi was against the strike of the sweeper and every time he gave them moral lessons of Varna Ashram Dharma. That way, Gandhi damaged the cause of the emancipation of Dalits with his brutal immoral morality.

Small Video of Hugo Chavez talking about the capitalist coup of 2002 to overthrow him from power and install a reign of terrorist capitalist fascism. Like the anti-Clinton and anti-democratic coup de etat of the Republican Fascist Party:

Tirupati takes deity to Dalits
OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT
Chennai, April 11: Lord Venkateshwara, said to draw devotees from all over the world to India’s richest temple near Tirupati, is reaching out to the lowest of the lowly.

In an experiment aimed at social integration, the Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanam, which manages the temple, for the first time brought the Utsava Murthy (processional deity) from the hill shrine to the predominantly Dalit village of Vemuru, 13 km from Tirupati in Chittoor district.
Under the initiative named Dalitha Govindam, Lord Venkateshwara — popularly known in the north as Lord Balaji — and his consort, goddess Padmavathigaru, were brought to the remote village where the Srinivasa Kalyanam (celestial marriage of the Lord) was performed in front of hundreds of villagers.

Men, women and children lined up with flowers and lighted camphor to receive the deities as priests took them around the main streets and placed them in a pandal for the symbolic marriage ceremony.

The Pentagon report released recently proves it: there was no
connection between 9/11, Iraq or al-Quaeda. That makes Bush & Cheney
guilty of war crimes under the principles of the Nuremberg Tribunal:

'Crimes against peace:
Planning, preparation, initiation or waging of a war of aggression'

Principles of the Nuremberg Tribunal, 1950
No. 82
Principles of International Law Recognized in the Charter of the
Nuremberg Tribunal and in the Judgment of the Tribunal. Adopted by
the International Law Commission of the United Nations, 1950.
Introductory note: Under General Assembly Resolution 177 (II),
paragraph (a), the International Law Commission was directed
to "formulate the principles of international law recognized in the
Charter of the Nuremberg Tribunal and in the judgment of the
Tribunal." In the course of the consideration of this subject, the
question arose as to whether or not the Commission should ascertain
to what extent the principles contained in the Charter and judgment
constituted principles of international law. The conclusion was that
since the Nuremberg Principles had been affirmed by the General
Assembly, the task entrusted to the Commission was not to express any
appreciation of these principles as principles of international law
but merely to formulate them. The text below was adopted by the
Commission at its second session. The Report of the Commission also
contains commentaries on the principles (see Yearbook of the
Intemational Law Commission, 1950, Vol. II, pp. 374-378).

George Bush and Dick Cheney have lied the nation into a war of
aggression, are spying in open violation of the law, and have
sanctioned the use of torture. These are high crimes and misdemeanors
and demand accountability. Since Congress doesn't seem to get it, on
April 28 tens of thousands of Americans will spell it out for them.

From giant "human murals" to skywriting over the New Orleans Jazzfest
to guerrilla light shows to banner drops inside the California
Democratic Convention, we will literally spell out the word "IMPEACH!"
We invite you to join us in kicking off Impeachment Summer and turning
up the heat on Congress to impeach.

The A28 campaign has been launched by dozens of groups, including the
Green Party, Progressive Democrats of America, Code Pink, the National

Dear Palash Biswas:

It your word enslavement that caught my attention to your email about what's going on in Orissa. It's not just Orrisa, but it's all of India has been enslaved by crushing our secular democratic constitution by our Mafia polity of the last sixty years. For 21,900 days, our Mafia have done nothing but steal our nation on each and every day.

Besides the robbery of our wealth, there were the genocide in 1984 on innocent Sikh community delivered by Congress party. Then there was the Genocide on innocent Muslim Community in Gujarat 2992. Now you write about the genocide going on and Nandigram bleeds. Indians has lost their rights and freedom as the wheels of justice remain blocked.

In the first sentence of your email you have mentioned the freedom fighter for the poor Arundhati Roy. There is also Medha Patkar too. These two ladies practice nonviolence in the cause they support. To me nonviolence is more powerful then the nukes. Nukes destroy people by the millions and also a very large land mass too. I wrote this because you mentioned Maoists. I have no problem with this grouping, for the people in it the HARRIDANS and schedule cast has suffered a lot at the hands of government and people.

Well, my cause is to free India from corrupt Mafia polity. I am pasting my brief I released on August 01, 2006. I request you and the Maoists to give up violence of any kind, for my mission to free India is purely bloodless and totally nonviolent.

You, Maoists and myself can achieve our dreams of freedom, hunger and the poor children will receive the best education along with all other children of India without quotas. My aim is the bring all poor children the main stream of India.
