आदिवासियों-दलितों को मारा जा रहा है
स्त्रियों को फ्रेम दर फ्रेम उघाड़ा जा रहा है
फिर भी भारतीय सिनेमा आत्ममुग्ध है
फिल्मी इतिहासकार और लेखक गदगदाये हुए हैं
सौ साल से फिल्मी दुनिया ऑस्कर के लिए तड़प रहा है

सौसाल के सिनेमा को भारत के दलित, आदिवासी और स्त्री उसी तरह से खारिज करते हैं, जिस तरह से मार्लोन ब्रांडो ने अमेरिकन आदिवासियों के साथ हो रहे भेदभाव के खिलाफ ऑस्कर अवार्ड ठुकराते हुए रंगभेदी हॉलीवुड को खारिज किया था। 'द गॉडफादर' (1972) के लिए सर्वश्रेष्ठ अभिनेता का खिताब जीतने वाले मार्लोन ब्रांडो ने यह कहते हुए ऑस्कर ठुकरा दिया था कि अमेरिका में आदिवासियों के साथ जो व्यवहार हो रहा है, वह अमानवीय है। उसने कहा कि हॉलीवुड में अमेरिकन आदिवासियों को गलत ढंग से चित्रित किया जा रहा है, जिसका वे विरोध करते हैं। 27 मार्च 1973 को आयोजित 45वें ऑस्कर अवार्ड समारोह में मार्लोन का यह संदेश आदिवासी अभिनेत्री और 'नेशनल नेटिव अमेरिकन एफरमेटिव इमेज कमिटी' की अध्यक्षा साशीन लिटिलफेदर ने पढ़ा था।

And the reasons for this being are the treatment of American Indians today by the film industry — excuse me — and on television in movie re-runs, and also with recent happenings at Wounded Knee.

I beg at this time that I have not intruded upon this evening, and that we will in the future, our hearts and our understandings will meet with love and generosity.
