 | NURSERY ADMISSIONS - GOVT ON TEST - Govt of Delhi should not come under the pressure of the private schools lobby in the matter of framing statutory guidelines for admission of child in nursery class. There is no doubt that draw of lot is the only criteria contemplated under RTE Act, 2009 for admission of child whether belongs to disadvantageous/EWS or fee paying category. Any other criteria would be illegal, discriminatory and anti-child interest. Govt should also ensure that no child below the age of 4 years is permitted to be admitted in a formal school system. Ashok Ganguly Committee on Minimum Age of Entry of a Child in School has already been accepted by the Government of Delhi which clearly says that the entry age of a child in a formal school should not be less than 4 years. Govt must act in the interest of children and not in the interest of schools lobby having vested interests. |
