Assalaamu Alaikum (Greetings of Peace):
A quick note to bring two very important programs to the attention of our readers. The first is scheduled for this coming Saturday (March 13), with a requested registration deadline for tomorrow. I am forwarding this out to our listserve for two reasons:
(1) I have some familiarity with the work of the Islamic Leadership Institute of America (ILIA), and I think the work they are doing is very, very important;
(2) the focus for Saturday's workshop has particular relevance, given all of the pressures that can make inter-generational communication extremely difficult in these challenging times.
The second program announcement is for The Muslim Link newspaper, and its annual fundraising dinner. People who know me well, know that I place a great deal of emphasis on the importance of Muslims meeting the propaganda challenge in America. Toward this end a strong, vibrant, independent and ALLAH fearing Muslim media (both print and broadcast) is absolutely essential.
The Muslim Link is the primary source of Muslim-to-Muslim news and information in metropolitan Washington, DC - and we know for a fact that many beyond the Muslim community (both friend and foe) read the paper, and visit the website, as well. This is one of the reasons why The Muslim Link needs and deserves our support.
As usual, the guest speaker for the fundraising dinner on March 27th will come with a thought-provoking message on a very important, hot button issue (see below). We pray that the support The Muslim Link receives will match their consistent efforts to keep us informed.

The Muslim Link has served the DC, MD, and VA area community since 1998. With Allah's blessing and your support, we've grown to be a real voice for our community allowing communication between our masajid, and links to our fellow citizens and neighbors.
To continue establishing our own media, we need your support. As a non-profit newspaper, we need donations to fill in where advertising revenue falls short.
