Dear All,

Sandarbh, Roopankan and Prachi are jointly organising the film show of "Flames of the Snow." The film documents the recent Maoist revolution in Nepal. This is one of the rarest documentaries to get the honour of getting commercially released in 42 cinema halls in Nepal. The premier of the film was attended by the then prime minister of Nepal, Comrade Pushpkamal Dahal "Prachand" and the present prime minister Comrade Baburam Bhattarai. Among others, many were the people who challenged the Nepal monarchy as well as the American imperialism, and ultimately brought the people of Nepal forward.
This is certainly not the end. But there can be no doubt about the end of the monarchy in Nepal. A leap towards democracy is taken successfully. Now to make democracy a real one is again a task before them. History takes time. They are going through a transitional phase, but the struggles which led them here where they are now, are important to know.
Journalist and Activist  Anand Swaroop Verma and film maker Ashish Shrivastav have documented this important journey of peoples'  struggles and their success. Anand Swaroop Verma has been writing not only about Nepal, but also about Zimbabwe, Nigeria and other third world countries of Asia and Africa. He has also been bringing out a monthly journal "Samkaleen Teesri Duniya" as the editor.
You are invited for the film show.
