[ratne] Change of script-set for Assamese language
This is just to update everybody, especially to all new members.
About 2 months ago this group initiated review/discussion in order to change currently used script-set for assamese language.
3 suggested scripts' sets included in the review/discussion are as:
(a) Kamarupi-script – from kamarupi inscriptions both copperplate and sachi scriptures
(b) Pali script – comes from Pali inscriptions
(c) Nalanda script – the script-set especially used at Nalanda university
Members in the group preferred Kamarupi-script.
The entire review/discussion can be followed following link:

The review/discussion process led to my attending UTC (unicode technical committee - an internal technical meeting of directors and vps of Unicode, Inc).
My attending this meeting and subsequently discovering some activities all credits go to Ranjit.

Link to follow for "Next week UTC observer outline"

At that time ratne group did not have any member who would want to duplicate current unicode Bengali script and rename it as assamese.

Some of those who wrote to unicode were asked to post theirs docs to ratne group.
Follow this - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Ratne/message/391
We are still waiting for response from them.
Hopefully they will respond by end of December otherwise I will summarize next year.
There were a Kamarupi-script nomenclature survey.
Survey result - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Ratne/message/374
Soon Rev-4 Kamarupi script will be open for community validation.
Above is briefly the summary and outcome of the review/discussion.
