The NYPD is back in full excessive force

In 1998 the amount of reported police brutality cases in New York was 446. Then, in 2002, Raymond Kelly took over as police commissioner and that number sky rocketed to 768. Although a corrupt politician himself, William Bratton had only 3 widely publicized police brutality cases during his commission. Those of Abner Louim, Amadu Dialo and Johnathan Baez. Enter Raymond Kelly in Jan 2002 as police commissioner and you now need 2 hands to count the number of nationally publicized incidents. From Sean Bel and Timothy Stansbury to Michael Mineo and the Monumental 5. And now the OWS movement is getting a first hand feel for the NYPD's strong arm of the law. The statistics alone demand for a change. Employing and amplifying Bratton's "broken window" policy is not the answer. America may have experienced a terrorist attack on Sept 11, 2001, but in Jan 2002 terrorism only continued for the citizens of New York. Please either follow or copy and paste the link below into your web browser and tell Mayor Bloomberg its time for a change.
