Building upon the USPCN Popular Conference 2010, and its National Call to Action, the US Palestinian Community Network is pleased to announce its endorsement of the Minnesota Break the Bonds Campaign.
MN Break the Bonds Campaign (MN BBC) is a movement advocating for the state of Minnesota to divest from Israel Bonds in solidarity with the 2005 Palestinian Call for BDS (Boycott, Divestments and Sanctions) - http://mn.breakthebonds.org/?p=393
Since 2008, Palestinians, Jews, Christians, Muslims, students, professionals, parents, community members and allies, have been working together to bring fair and honest Palestine-centric education to Minnesota, to support justice and human rights, and to examine the relationship of Minnesotans to Israel's occupation of Palestine. Due to a belief that Minnesotans have the moral obligation to make sound investments that will not aid the oppression of any one race, creed or people, MNBBC calls on Minnesota to cut economic ties with Israel, and the state of Minnesota to divest all its Israel bonds, until it complies with international law and universal principles of human rights. For more information, please visit the campaign website, mn.breakthebonds.org
USPCN calls on the Palestinian community in the US, particularly those in Minnesota, to support this powerful campaign. As students, community members, organizers, let mobilise our community for this ground-breaking community effort. Contact the campaign to co-host educational events and forums, see how you may be able to expand it to your state, and help Minnesota civil society stand with Palestinian civil society by giving generously.
