"Brahmins were ostracized/hated by their own men."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(DNA news on 5th Oct. 05 , p-15 appeared in DV. )

Summary of this news: A Brahmin family had performed rituals in a shudra's residence. As a result whole Brahmin community became angry with the Brahmin family for this act, which culminated to beating the (culprit in eye of Brahmin community) Brahmin family severely.
C.C. Hadke's Comment: This was indeed an act of "Caste Identity", because it was violation of caste rule that deserves punishment to betrayer. There is no morality or legality, only caste rule prevails and nothing else. Whatever act is within caste rule, is right and vice versa, disregard to vicious or virtuous, right or wrong act and commonsense as well. They ought to earn their livelihood within caste rule, or else, it shall attract punitive action, is their motto. So is the "Caste Unity/Identity". Other people may think, it is narrow-mind-ness of Brahmins, but it is secret key factor of their sake of their own caste and success, progress as well. So is "Caste Identity". In Marathi there is a popular proverb for Brahmins "Jaatisaathi khavi maati". i.e. "Let us eat earth for sake of our caste." This proverb is seen as stink/unpleasant taste for other communities. Whereas, it is the sweetest taste for Brahmin community.
