Medical staffs in Cairo's largest hospital, Qasr al-Aini, have joined hundreds of thousands of Egyptian protesters to demand an end to President Hosni Mubarak's 30-year-old rule.

About 3000 staff of Qasr al-Aini hospital took to the streets of Cairo on Thursday and headed towards the lower House of the parliament to join thousands of protesters that have blockaded the legislative building, AFP reported.

Revolution has entered its 17th consecutive day in crisis-hit Egypt, despite massive crackdown on demonstrators in the past two days that has so far left more than a hundred people killed or wounded.

Islamic Brotherhood gives Mubarak One Week
Islam Times reports that the Islamic Brotherhood announced that Hosni Mubarak, the president of Egypt, has one week to resign from his post. They announced that there will be no peace treaties or discussions about this issue.

'Assam al-'Uriyan, one of the high ranking officials of this organization, clearly stated that the Islamic Brotherhood knows that many difficulties lie ahead. That is why they are demanding that Mubarak submit his resignation within one week.

He continued to state that the Islamic Brotherhood is not after absolute political power. It will exert all of its efforts to establish a just legislative body. The Islamic Brotherhood wanted to remind the world that it is a peaceful organization which obeys the law.

'Arab states urge US to back Mubarak'

A US media report has revealed that Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the UAE have followed Israel to ask the United States to lift the pressure on Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to resign.


The New York Times reported Tuesday that according to some US diplomats, the four countries have repeatedly requested that Washington remove pressures on Mubarak in an attempt to avoid destabilizing the region.

A US envoy to the Middle East has said he has spent 12 hours on the phone discussing the issue with US officials.

According to a statement released by the United Arab Emirates, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed of Abu Dhabi talked with US President Barack Obama on Sunday and emphasized the need for "stability" in crisis-hit Egypt.

The Egyptian Army has been accused of secretly arresting and torturing pro-democracy protesters in recent revolution demanding President Hosni Mubarak's ouster.


Human rights activists say Egyptian military has been involved in arrest and torture of hundreds and possibly thousands of protesters during the 17 days of revolution, The Guardian reported Wednesday.

The army has been accused of using methods such as electric shocks in what has been described as an organized campaign of intimidation.
