Dear Stop the War supporter,

You will have been witnessing the momentous events in Egypt. Stop the War has
always been involved in solidarity work with the Middle East, as part of our
opposition to the "war on terror". We have held many meetings and protests on
Palestine, Lebanon and Yemen.

Clearly if Hosni Mubarak falls from power, it will have huge implications for
the whole region, and even further afield, including the major theatres of war
in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq.

Stop the War is holding a solidarity meeting for the Egyptian uprising in
London on Wednesday 2 February, which we hope everyone close enough to the
capital will be able to attend (details below).

As well as in London, there have already been solidarity protests in other
towns and cities, including Birmingham and Manchester.

We are asking local Stop the War groups across the country to consider holding
public meetings on the Egyptian uprising, and its implications for the "war on
terror" and for British foreign policy. Stop the War will do its best to
provide speakers, including Egyptians living in this country and eye witnesses
from Cairo.

If you would like to organise a public meeting on the issue where you live or
at your college/school, contact the Stop the War national office and we will
help as we best we can. We will be publicising details of local meetings on the
Stop the War website as we receive them.

Best wishes,

Lindsey German, national convenor of Stop the War
Andrew Murray, national chair of Stop the War Stop the War

SOLIDARITY WITH THE EGYPTIAN UPRISING
PUBLIC MEETING: WEDNESDAY 2 FEBRUARY 7PM
CONWAY HALL, RED LION SQUARE, LONDON WC1R 4RL
SPEAKERS INCLUDE: George Galloway, Egyptian activist Dina Makram Ebeid,
John Rees, who is in Cairo at present and will return to give an eyewitness
account to the meeting, and Bernard Regan.
