Vice President Greets People on Rakshabandhan

New Delhi: August 23, 2010.

 

The Vice President of India Shri M. Hamid Ansari has greeted the people of our country on the joyous occasion of Rakshabandhan. In his message, he has said that the Festival of Rakshabandhan which celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters reinforces the spirit of family bonding, societal harmony and peaceful coexistence.

 

Following is the text of the Vice President's message :

 

"I greet the people of our country on the joyous occasion of Rakshabandhan.

 

The Festival of Rakshabandhan which celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters reinforces the spirit of family bonding, societal harmony and peaceful coexistence. I am confident that these celebrations will go a long way in spreading the message of fraternity, solidarity, love and affection among citizens.

 

May this Festival bring about amity and goodwill in our lives."

The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil in her message on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan which is being celebrated tomorrow, has said :-

 

"On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to all my fellow citizens.

 

This festival is uniquely symbolic of the bonds of love, affection and mutual trust which have existed for centuries between sisters and brothers of every community in our country. May their united endeavours bring prosperity and progress to all sections of our people".
