Tejaswini Sawant, who made India proud by winning the 50m rifle prone Gold at the World Shooting Championship, returned home this morning. She was given a warm reception at the Airport.Meanwhile,Acting on the persistent plea of the Sports Ministry, the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee today terminated the services of its tainted Joint Director General T S Darbari in the wake of the corruption scandal that has rocked the event. Darbari, who had been suspended pending an inquiry after his name cropped up in alleged corruption during the Queen''s Baton Relay''s launch in London, has been told to hand over charge to Additional Director General V K Saxena.

Tejaswini became the first Indian woman shooter to win a gold in World Championship. She also equalled the world record, as she shot 99 in her last attempt. Had it been 100, it would be a world record.

Vidya Stokes was today elected Hockey India President after defeating former national captain Pargat Singh in the much-awaited Hockey India polls here today.

Stokes, who is the interim Hockey India President, won the straight contest by a big margin of 41-21 though the official results will be announced later as per Delhi High Court directives.
The 83-year-old Stokes was fighting the elections after defying government's age limitation guidelines.
Stokes' close ally Narinder Batra also defeated Gunjam Haider of Hockey Arunachal 41-18 for the Secretary General's post.
Another candidate from Stokes' faction, Mustaq Ahmed won the election for treasurer's post after defeating Haider with a margin of 45-17.
The Hockey India polls were postponed four times earlier for varied reasons, most recently on July 28 after the Delhi and Bombay High Courts stayed the election process
