Road Projects Worth Rs.1615 Crores Awarded for Naxal Affected Areas

New Delhi: August 4, 2010.

 

 

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways  has awarded 53 works  costing Rs.1615 crores  for road connectivity in the  Left Wing Extremism  affected areas. This forms part of the overall 138 sanctioned estimates

for 3831 km. length costing Rs.4390 crore. The largest numbers of works have been awarded in Chattisgarh (19 works for a length of 699 km. costing Rs. 839 crore).  State-wise status of sanctions and award of works is given below:

The Government has approved on 26.02.2009 a scheme for development of 1202 km National Highways and 4363 km State Roads to two lane standards at an estimated cost of Rs. 7300 crore in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas of 34 Districts in 8 States in February, 2009.

                This information was provided by Shri R.P.N Singh, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways in the Rajya Sabha today.

65% of NHs Projects Undetaken During the Last Five Years Completed

New Delhi: August 4, 2010.

 

During last five years (from 2005-06 to 2009-10), the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has undertaken 3692 projects for development of National Highways in the country. Of this, 2423 projects (about 65.63 %) have been completed, 1242 (33.64%) are under progress and 297 projects (8%) are in tender stage.

The largest number of projects were taken in Uttar Pradesh (316) followed by Maharashtra (247), Uttarakhand (246), Tamil Nadu (238), Karnataka (231), Assam (215), Orissa (207) and Andhra Pradesh (202).

214 projects have been completed in Uttar Pradesh, 127 in Maharashtra, 160 in Uttarakhand, 51 in Tamil Nadu, 187 in Karnataka, 125 in Assam, 124 in Orissa and 141 in Andhra Pradesh.
