SHRI SALMAN KHURSHID ADVOCATES INTRODUCTION OF FINANCIAL LITERACY

Kolkata, dated 13 July, 2010

 

 

The Minister of State (IC), Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Shri Salman Khurshid has said that we have to hand over a vibrant and successful Indian economy to the next generation and that we are pulling democracy in the right direction by introducing financial literacy. Shri Khurshid was delivering his inaugural address at a seminar on "Financial Literacy - A way to deepen financial markets" organized by FICCI and Ministry of Corporate Affairs her today on the occasion of India Investor Week being observed from July 12-17, 2010.

 

Shri Khurshid announced portals in 12 languages would be available on the subject including the Bengali website of MCA that was launched in Kolkata today. He said he was fully supportive of the venture.

 

Shri Khursid was all praises for the people of Kolkata who according to him were "preached in financial literacy". He mentioned the names of Shri Pranab Mukherjee and Dr. Asim Dasgupta, describing them as "economic giants from Kolkata" belonging to the current batch of politicians.

 

The minister released the FICCI report on Investor Awareness on the occasion.
