The new government attacks the social and political rights of the working people

The political situation formed after the victory of Victor Yanukovich on the presidential elections and creation of the new governing coalition headed by the Party of Regions in the parliament is characterized by the concentration of the state power of all the levels in the hands of one of the bourgeois powers and by the weakening of the bourgeois opposition.

Having obtained the state power, the Party of Regions started the systematic attack of the social and political rights of the working people. "Expediting" through the Parliament the new Labor Code that noticeably worsens the state of hired workers and their organizations, the increase of the pension age according to the instructions of the IMF; the wide-ranging program of privatization of the state property declared by Victor Yanukovich in his program speech to the deputes are only the beginning of the big business attacking the interests of the hired workers. The mission of the new government and the new president is to the maximum to shift all the difficulties of the crisis to the working people and to preserve and enlarge the profit of the big business. In this case their goals fully coincide with the ones of the preceding government. This fact one more time proves the common social nature of the "white-blue" and the "orange" bourgeoisie. But, having concentrated all the instruments of power in its hands, the new government has much more abilities to observe the interests of the capitalistic oligarchy.

Together with attacking the rights of the toiling, the policy of the systematic restriction of the democratic rights that the hired workers can use for protest and resistance is being held. The great importance had the bill 2450 that is now "pushed" through the Verkhovna Rada. It largely restricts the citizens' rights for the peaceful meetings, in fact copying the repressive model of regulating the meetings, piquets and demonstrations used in Russia. The new bill about the local elections reduces the term of the election campaign and permits to nominate only the members of the registered political parties. This measure greatly restricts the means of rte political powers that are not connected with the first-rate financial-industrial groups and, in fact, gives the Party of Regions the advantages in the struggle for the sets in the municipality.

The liberal opposition arguing against the PR initiatives in reality would act the same as the party of Yanuckovich by virtue of its class nature. It's worth mentioning that the repressive law 2450 was introduced by the deputes of Timoshenko's fraction, but the attack the workers' social rights doesn't find any opposition from the bourgeois opposition to the regime of Viktor Yanuckovich.

Having joined the governing coalition, the Communist Party of Ukraine came up as one of the bourgeois parties. In fact, a long time ago the CPU became the part of the governing regime, so its actual cartel with the PR and support of the antilabour and antidemocratic initiatives of the government are only the continuation of the old solidarity course with the Ukrainian bourgeoisie. All Ukrainian League of the Working Men split off the Communist party that pretended to declare its revolutionism, but in fact supporting the "south-west" fraction of the Ukrainian bourgeoisie and the authoritarian imperialistic regime of the Russian Federation, took up a station of opposing the new government.

Also one of the most important factors of the new political situation is the growth of the extreme right wing political powers that are supported both by the liberal opposition as the ally in the struggle against Yanuckovich and by the governing group trying to use the ultra-right wing as a 'bogey' for the electorate of the Eastern Ukraine. The extreme right wing is using social demagogy, even speaks of 'socialism' and tries to present itself as an alternative for the electorate dissatisfied with the existing political structures.

In light of it the goal that was shaped yet at the moment of creation of the Marxism Organisation becomes more and more actual – the goal of creation of an anticapitalistic political power. The disconnected opposition of the labour, social, student and democratic movements without any political centre has no chances of success in opposing the regime assaulting the social and political rights of the working people.
