যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার প্রসঙ্গে

যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার নিয়ে আওয়ামী লীগ সরকারের লোকজন ও তাদের ঘরানার বুদ্ধিজীবীর দল যেভাবে ও যেসব আওয়াজ তুলছে, তাতে দেখা যাচ্ছে, খাজনার থেকে এদের বাজনা অনেক বেশি। এর থেকে সন্দেহ হওয়া স্বাভাবিক যে এরা সত্যি সত্যিই ১৯৭১ সালের যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার চায় কি না। এ ক্ষেত্রে উল্লেখ্য, বিচার প্রক্রিয়ার শ্লথগতি এবং এ বিষয়ে নানা বিভ্রান্তিকর কথাবার্তা সরকারি লোকজন বলতে থাকায় আওয়ামী ঘরানার কোনো কোনো মহলও এ বিচারের ব্যাপারে উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করেছে।
প্রথমেই বলা দরকার, বিচার প্রক্রিয়া ভণ্ডুল করার চক্রান্তের কথা বলে 'ওই গেল ওই গেল' রব তুলে আওয়ামী লীগ মহলের নেতৃস্থানীয় লোকজন কর্তৃক যেসব কথা প্রায় প্রতিদিন বলা হচ্ছে, তাতে এদের এসব বক্তব্য পরিণত হয়েছে এক হাস্যকর ব্যাপারে। বিএনপি ২৭ জুন হরতাল আহ্বান করেছিল। সে হরতালের সমালোচনা তাদের পক্ষ থেকে করা কোনো দোষের ব্যাপার নয়। কিন্তু যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার প্রক্রিয়া ভণ্ডুল করার জন্যই হরতাল ডাকা হয়েছে বলে তারা যে আওয়াজ তুলেছিল, তার ফাঁকা চরিত্র খুব স্বচ্ছ। কোনো লোকই এ আওয়াজকে পাত্তা দেননি। কারণ, হরতালের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার বিষয়কে যুক্ত করা রাজনৈতিক প্রতিপক্ষকে ঘায়েল করার এক ব্যর্থ প্রচেষ্টা বলেই তাঁরা মনে করেছেন। শুধু হরতালই নয়, দেখা যাচ্ছে বিএনপির যেকোনো কাজ, সিদ্ধান্ত বা কর্মসূচির সমালোচনা করতে গিয়ে আওয়ামী লীগ সব সময়ই তাকে যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার ভণ্ডুল করার চক্রান্ত বলে অভিহিত করছে। এতে নিজেদের জনগণের কাছে খেলো করা এবং যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার বিষয়কে খেলো করে দেওয়া ছাড়া অন্য কিছুই হচ্ছে না। অবস্থা এ রকম দাঁড়াচ্ছে এ কারণে যে আওয়ামী লীগ বিরোধী দল কর্তৃক যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার বানচালের কথা যত জোরেশোরে বলছে, এ বিচারকাজ সুষ্ঠুভাবে সংগঠিত ও ত্বরান্বিত করার ব্যাপারে সরকারিভাবে তেমন কিছুই করছে না।

যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচারের ইস্যু কোনো নতুন ইস্যু নয়। বাস্তবত ১৯৭১ সালে যুদ্ধ শেষ হওয়ার পরই এ বিচার প্রক্রিয়া শুরু ও তৎকালীন পরিস্থিতিতে দ্রুত সম্পন্ন হওয়া দরকার ছিল। কিন্তু আওয়ামী লীগ তখন প্রবল প্রতাপে রাজত্ব করলেও তারা যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার করেনি। শুধু তাই নয়, এর তালিকা প্রক্রিয়া শুরু করে তারা তালিকাভুক্ত ১৯৫ পাকিস্তানি সামরিক অফিসারের বিচার না করে তাদের পাকিস্তানে ফেরত পাঠিয়েছিল। যদিও তৎকালীন সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে বারবার বলা হচ্ছিল যে সেই যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার বাংলার মাটিতেই হবে। সে বিচার হয়নি, তার পরও বাংলাদেশে যুদ্ধাপরাধী হিসেবে যাদের আটক করা হয়েছিল তাদেরও ছেড়ে দেওয়া হয়েছিল। তাদের প্রতি আহ্বান জানানো হয়েছিল নতুন বাংলাদেশ গড়ার কাজে অংশগ্রহণ করতে। এ কাজ শেখ মুজিব তাদের মন্ত্রিসভার কোনো সিদ্ধান্তের মাধ্যমে করেননি। সাংবিধানিকভাবে ক্ষমা ঘোষণা ছিল রাষ্ট্রপতির এখতিয়ারভুক্ত, তবু প্রধানমন্ত্রী হিসেবেই তিনি এ ক্ষমা ঘোষণা করেছিলেন নিজে এই কাজের কৃতিত্ব গ্রহণের জন্য। এ ক্ষেত্রে সব থেকে 'চমৎকৃত' হওয়ার মতো ব্যাপার ছিল প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ মুজিব কর্তৃক ১৯৭১ সালের সব থেকে বড় ও ঘৃণ্য যুদ্ধাপরাধী জুলফিকার আলী ভুট্টোকে শুধু মাফ করে দেওয়া নয়, ১৯৭৪ সালের ফেব্রুয়ারি মাসে লাহোরে ইসলামী সম্মেলনের সময় তাঁকে পরম বন্ধু হিসেবে আলিঙ্গন করে তাঁর গালে চুমু খাওয়া এবং পরে তাঁকে মহাসম্মানিত রাষ্ট্রীয় অতিথি হিসেবে বাংলাদেশে আমন্ত্রণ জানিয়ে রাজসিক সংবর্ধনা জ্ঞাপন করা। এর পর বাস্তবত আওয়ামী লীগের পক্ষে ১৯৭১ সালের যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচারের কোনো নৈতিক অথবা আইনগত ভিত্তি থাকেনি। ১৯৯৬-২০০১ সালে আওয়ামী লীগ ক্ষমতায় থাকার সময়ও তারা যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচারের কোনো উদ্যোগ নেয়নি। শুধু তা-ই নয়, যখনই প্রয়োজন হয়েছে তখনই তারা জামায়াতে ইসলামী এবং অন্য ধর্মীয় সংগঠনের নেতাদের সঙ্গে সমঝোতা করেছে। এসব কিছুর প্রমাণই সংবাদপত্রের পাতায় ছড়িয়ে আছে, কাজেই কারো কিছু বানিয়ে বলার প্রয়োজন নেই।

১৯৯৬ সালে ক্ষমতাসীন হওয়ার পর আওয়ামী লীগ সরকার যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার বিষয়ে কোনো উদ্যোগ না নিলেও এখনকার পরিবর্তিত পরিস্থিতিতে চাপে পড়ে তারা এ উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে। খুব ভালো কথা। কিন্তু উদ্যোগ নেওয়া সত্ত্বেও এ ব্যাপারে যেভাবে অগ্রসর হওয়া দরকার সেটা এদের মধ্যে দেখা যাচ্ছে না। এ ক্ষেত্রে এরা নিজেরা ইতিবাচক কাজ করার পরিবর্তে নেতিবাচকভাবে বিএনপি ও জামায়াতে ইসলামী কর্তৃক এই বিচার ভণ্ডুল ও বানচাল করার ষড়যন্ত্রের কথাই বেশি বলছে।
বাংলাদেশের বুদ্ধিজীবীদের অধিকাংশই সততার জন্য বিখ্যাত নন। কাজেই সুযোগ বুঝে তাঁরা যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার বিষয়ে অনেক গালভরা কথা বললেও আওয়ামী লীগ সরকারের এই নেতিবাচক কার্যকলাপের বিরোধিতা না করে নিজেরাও এর সঙ্গে সুর মেলাচ্ছেন। এ কাজ করতে গিয়ে অনেক ফালতু কথাই তাঁদের বলতে হচ্ছে।

এবার অন্য এক প্রসঙ্গে আসা দরকার। এ প্রসঙ্গে এবং এ বিষয়ে কোনো কথা আওয়ামী মহলে তো শোনাই যায় না, উপরন্তু কেউ সে কথা বললে তাকে স্বাধীনতাবিরোধী হিসেবে আখ্যায়িত করার চেষ্টা করতে দেখা যায়। প্রসঙ্গটি হলো, ১৯৭১ সালে যুদ্ধাপরাধ শুধু অবাঙালি ও পাকিস্তানপন্থীরাই করেনি। বাঙালিরাও তখন যুদ্ধাপরাধ করেছে। যুদ্ধাপরাধের অর্থ শুধু স্বাধীনতার সক্রিয় বিরোধিতা নয়। যুদ্ধের সময় নিরপরাধ ব্যক্তি এবং আত্দসমর্পণকারী ব্যক্তিদের হত্যা, ধর্ষণ, নির্যাতন করাও অপরাধ। এ কাজ তখন দুই পক্ষেই হয়েছিল। ১৯৭১ সালের মার্চ-এপ্রিলে অনেক অবাঙালি নিরাপরাধ নারী-শিশু-বৃদ্ধ ব্যক্তি বাঙালিদের হাতে নিষ্ঠুরভাবে নিহত হয়েছে। আমি নিজের চোখে এ হত্যাকাণ্ড দেখেছি মার্চ মাসের শেষদিকে। আমার আত্দজীবনী 'আমার জীবন'-এর তৃতীয় খণ্ডে আমি এর বর্ণনা দিয়েছি (জাতীয় সাহিত্য প্রকাশ, পৃষ্ঠা : ১৭২-১৭৩)। এটা এমন ব্যাপার ছিল, যা গোপন বা অস্বীকার করার উপায় নেই।
'মুক্তিযুদ্ধ ও তারপর' নামে একটি বই ২০১০ সালের জানুয়ারি মাসে 'প্রথমা' প্রকাশনী কর্তৃক প্রকাশিত হয়েছে। গোলাম মুরশিদ লিখিত বইটিতে এ বিষয়ের কিছু উল্লেখ আছে। এর থেকেও মনে হয়, অবাঙালিদেরও যে মানুষ হিসেবে বিবেচনা করা দরকার এবং তাদেরও যে ন্যায়বিচার পাওয়ার অধিকার আছে_এ চিন্তা মুক্তিযোদ্ধা নামে পরিচিত লোকদের ছিল না। এ জন্য হিতাহিত জ্ঞানশূন্য হয়ে সে সময় বাঙালিরা এমনভাবে অনেক অবাঙালি নিধন করেছিল, ঠিক যেভাবে বাঙালি নিধন করেছিল অবাঙালি পাকিস্তানিরা। গোলাম মুরশিদ লিখেছেন, "আইন হাতে তুলে নেওয়ার একটি বড় রকমের দৃষ্টান্ত দেখা যায় ১৮ তারিখ মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের এক সমাবেশে। এই সমাবেশে দেশপ্রেমিক মুক্তিযোদ্ধারা দেশ গড়ার ব্যাপারে সবাইকে উৎসাহ দেন।...কিন্তু এই সমাবেশের পরেই হঠাৎ মুক্তিযোদ্ধারা চারজন 'দালাল'কে পেটাতে আরম্ভ করেন। বেসামরিক মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের মধ্যে সবচেয়ে বিখ্যাত ছিলেন কাদের সিদ্দিকী। তাঁকে নিয়ে গর্ব করতাম আমরা সবাই। সত্যিকার অর্থে তিনি যেভাবে নিজে একটি বিশাল মুক্তিবাহিনী গড়ে তোলেন, তা বিস্ময়ের ব্যাপার। যেভাবে যুদ্ধ করে তিনি টাঙ্গাইল অঞ্চল দখল করে রাখেন, তাও অবিশ্বাস্য। বস্তুত তিনি সবারই শ্রদ্ধা অর্জন করেন। কিন্তু ১৮ তারিখে 'দালাল' পেটানোর নেতৃত্ব দিয়েছিলেন তিনিই। শেষ পর্যন্ত তিনি বিদেশি টেলিভিশনের সামনে বেয়োনেট দিয়ে খুঁচিয়ে এই দালালদের হত্যা করেন" (মাঈদুল, ১৯৯২)। বলাবাহুল্য, আইন হাতে তুলে নেওয়ার এ দৃষ্টান্ত শ্রদ্ধার বস্তু ছিল না। বহু দেশেই এই ঘটনার ছবি দেখানো হয়। ফলে যুদ্ধের সময় বাংলাদেশের প্রতি বিশ্বসমাজের যে শুভেচ্ছা ও সহানুভূতি তৈরি হয়েছিল, তখন থেকেই তাতে ভাটা পড়তে আরম্ভ করে (পৃষ্ঠা: ১৭৬-'৭৭)। 'কাদের সিদ্দিকী বেয়োনেট দিয়ে এক দালালকে হত্যা করতে যাচ্ছেন'_এই শিরোনামে একটি ছবিও এতে ছাপানো হয়েছে; যাতে দেখা যাচ্ছে কাদের সিদ্দিকী বেয়োনেট দিয়ে একজনকে হত্যা করে আর একজনকে হত্যা করছেন।

এই অবাঙালি নিধনের জন্য যুদ্ধাপরাধী হিসেবে বাঙালিদের কারো কোনো বিচার হবে এমন চিন্তা বাংলাদেশে দেশদ্রোহিতার শামিল। কিন্তু তা সত্ত্বেও এর উল্লেখ করা হলো এ কারণে যে এর মধ্যে দেশপ্রেমিক মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের একটা বড় অংশের উগ্র জাতীয়তাবাদী ফ্যাসিস্ট চরিত্রের প্রতিফলন ঘটে, যে চরিত্র কোনো মতেই প্রশংসাযোগ্য নয়।

এতদিন পর একটি সত্যি কথার আলোকপাত করলেন বদরুদ্দীন উমর সাহেব।ধন্যবাদ । মানবতাবোধ বাংলাদেশের মানুষের মাঝে আছে বলে আমার সন্দেহ হয় অবশ্যা আপনার মত কিছু বতিক্রম হয়তবা আছেন । মনে পড়ে ৭১ এর যুদ্ধকালনি সময়ে আমার এক পরিিচত লোক তখনকার বিডিআর সিপাহি ছিলেন (তখন বলা হত ইপিআর) তার মুখে শুনেছি কিভাবে চট্টগ্রামে তারা শত শত বিহারী মেয়েদেরকে রেইপ করেছেন। একদিন নাকি এত বেশী বলৎকার করেছিলেন যে এক পর্যায়ে তার পুরুষ অঙ্গে ব্যথ্য হচ্ছিল। কথা হল অবাঙালি নিরাপরাধ নারী-শিশু-বৃদ্ধ ব্যক্তি বাঙালিদের হাতে নিষ্ঠুরভাবে যে নিহত হয়েছে সেটা কি মানবতা বিরোধী আপরাধ নয়? অবশ্যই কিন্তু সেক্টর কমান্ডাররা কেন এ কথা বলেন না?

Thanks to B Umor for his reference to the killing of non-bengalis. It is very true that both parties had their share of blood! And both parties exceeded limit at times! Non-bengalies were slaughtered in Sayeed pur and Chittagong much before Pak army crackdown! AS per DR. Kalim siddique, B Umar might know him, lost four of his brothers in Sayeed Pur! According to him the first wave of victimes who reached the East Pakistan-India border for life were not the not the Bengalies but Biharies! When some of these victimes arrived then West Pakistan and created furor. We often get caught in our own suffering and consider the atrocities commited to us and forget the atrocities we commited to so called pakistani supporters- begalies and non bengalies. My family lives in mohammad pur and our tenant back then in late sixties was a non-bengali family, much before army crackdown our tenent would often talk about the killing of biharies in Chittagong, I did not pay any heed to it then as it sounded to my young mind as an impossible crime we Bengali could ever commit.

War crime means: Any of various crimes, such as genocide or the mistreatment of prisoners of war, committed during a war and considered in violation of the conventions of warfare Crimes Against Humanity An international criminal justice offence; the perpetration of acts of war upon a civilian, non-soldier population. I agree with Mr. Badaruddin Omar. 195 war criminals were sent back to Pakistan by former president Shaikh Mujib. Murder, rape, abduction and other heinous crimes committed by civilian people during liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971 were investigated by police officers. Average 3 police officers in each police station of more than 430 Police stations throughout Bangladesh conducted investigation. Even special Investigation officer was appointed in many police stations to conduct investigation under collaborator's act. Many thousands criminals were arrested and many of them were convicted by court. Reportable crimes must be reported to police station within 48 hrs by victim or his family members. So it is difficult to justify some action against political leaders of different parties after long 38 years.

অসাধারণ লেখাটির জন্য অসংখ্য ধন্যবাদ। আওয়ামিলীগ গদির জন্য সব করতে পারংগম। যুদ্ধাপরাধ বিষয়ে তাদের অবস্হান রহস্যজনক, মজার ব্যাপার হচ্ছে- গত দুই মাসের অবস্হা দেখলে মনে হচ্ছিল এই ইস্যু থেকে তারা পালিয়ে বাচতে চাচ্ছে। তবে চট্টগ্রামে তদের সোচনীয় হার তীর খাওয়া বাঘের মতো হিংস্র করে দেয় তাদের। এখন তার দিকবিদিক গ্যান শূন্য, "র" এর পরামর্শে তারা আবার জিঘাংসার চোরাবালিতে নেমেছে। হরতালের আগের দিনে বাস-যানবাহন পোড়ানো আওয়ামি রাজনীতির খেলা। এই বিষয়ে নানাক-আজম গং দের দারুন অভিগ্গ্যতা রয়েছে। এমন স্বতস্ফুর্ত হরতাল গত ১০ বছরে দেখা যায়নি। বাসে-যানবাহনে অগ্নিদান রাজনীতির খেলা শুরু করেছে বিএনপির নেতাদের এরেস্ট এর মাধ্যমে আর মূল পর্ব দেখা গেল জামায়াত নেতা ত্রয়ী আটকের খেলায়। মওদুদ যথার্থ বলেছেন-'সরকার যখন আস্হা হারায় তখন তাদের নির্যাতন ও প্রকট আকার ধারণ করে'। সরকারের বর্তমান দলননীতি সাময়িক ভাবে অনেক বিরোধী নেতা-কর্মীদের কষ্ট দেবে সত্য- তবে এটি আরো সত্য, সরকার নিজের অবস্হানকেই নড়বড়ে করবে বেশি। বাংগালীকে হাইকোর্ট দেখানো-পুরোনো প্রবাদ, তবে সত্যি-কোন লাভ নেই। স্বাধিনতা অর্জনে আওয়ামিলীগকে গুরুত্ব দেয়া যায় কিন্তু স্বাধিনতা রক্ষায় নয়- তাহলে তা শিয়ালের কাছে মুরগী বাগা দেয়ার মতো হবে। আমরা বাংগালিরা আসল কাজ করতে ভুল করিনা তবে একটু সময় নেই মাত্র, একটু অপেক্ষা করুন-দেখতে পাবেন।

আ. লীগ সরকারের বিগত কিছুদিনের কাজ কারবার দেখে মনে হচ্ছিল যেন তারা যুদ্ধাপরাধী বিচার বিষয়টি হতে পারলে পালিয়ে বাঁচে, কিন্তু চট্টগ্রামের মেয়র নির্বাচনে গো হারা হেরে গিয়ে তারা এখন দিকবিদিক জ্ঞানশূন্য হয়ে পড়েছে, তাই তারা তাদের ভারতীয় মুরুব্বীদের পরামর্শে বিরোধী শিবিরকে কোনঠাসা করতে মরিয়া হয়ে মাঠে নেমেছে। ২৭শে জুন তারিখের দেশব্যাপী স্বতঃস্ফুর্ত হরতাল পালন যেন তাদেরকে আরো বেশী বেসামাল করে দিয়েছে। তারা কেমন যে বেসামাল হয়ে গেছে তা প্রতি পদে পদে সাধারণের চোখে ধরা পড়ছে। উদাহরণস্বরূপ গতকালের টিভি নিউজের একটি চিত্র পাঠকের জন্য তুলে ধরা যায়। মাও: নিজামীকে বাদ দিয়ে জামায়াতের অপর দুই নেতাকে গতকাল রিমান্ডে নিয়ে জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ প্রসঙ্গে সাংবাদিকদের প্রশ্নের জবাবে সংশ্লিষ্ট পুলিশ অফিসার জবাব দেয় যে নিরাপত্তায় বিঘ্ন ঘটবে এ আশংকায় জনাব নিজামীকে একসাথে ডিবি অফিসে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়নি। তাঁকে পরে জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করা হবে। অথচ তার কিছুক্ষণ পরে একই টিভি চ্যানেলের রানিং শিরোনামায় লিখা দেখা যায়, 'মাও: নিজামী সাহেব অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়ায় তাঁকে ডিবি অফিসে জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করতে নেয়া যায়নি। তাদেরকে গ্রেফতার নাটকটি পর্যবেক্ষণ করলেও সাধারণ মানুষ বুঝতে পারবে যে, সরকার যা করছে, তা কোন প্লান মাফিক কাজ নয়, বরং উপর থেকে চাপিয়ে দেয়া এমন একটি কাজ, যার সাথে পুলিশ, প্রশাসন কিংবা আদালতের কাজের কোন সমন্বয়ই কেউ খুজে পায়না। গ্রেফতার করা হলো এ অজুহাতে যে তমুকের দায়ের করা ব্লাসফেমী মামলায় তাদেরকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়েছে, আবার যখন ঘাদানিকের নেতা শাহরিয়াক কবির টক-শোতে এসে বললো, সরকার এ অজুহাতে গ্রেফতার করে তাদের কাজের বৈধতা প্রমানে ব্যর্থ হবে, জনগন এতে সায় দিবেনা, বরং সরকার যদি যুদ্ধাপরাধী মামলায় গ্রেফতার দেখাতো কেবল তখন তা জনগনের সমর্থন লাভ করতো। আর যায় কোথায়, সাথে সাথে দেখা গেল, টিভিতে নিউজ পড়া হচ্ছে, আদালত ব্লাসফেমী মামলায় আসামীত্রয়কে জামিন দিয়েছে, তবে পুলিশের কাজে বাধাদান, ২৭ তারিখের হরতালে নাশকতাকাজে উস্কানী....... সমস্ত আট প্রকার কারণে তাদের বিরুদ্ধে আরো আটটি মামলায় শ্যোন এরেটস্ট দেখানো হচ্ছে! কি সেলুকাস, এ বিচিত্র বাংলাদেশ। যে বিশ্বখ্যাত মাওলানার পবিত্র ওয়াজ শুনে প্রতি বছর শতশত বিধর্মী মুসলমান হয়, সেই মাওলানাকে বলা হচ্ছে মানবতাবিরোধী, যুদ্ধাপরাধী, ধিক তোমাদের হে ফেরাউনের উত্তরসূরী। তৈরী হও তোমাদের সময় ঘনিয়ে এসেছে। সরকারের জারিজুরি ফাঁস হতে আর বেশী দেরী নেই বলে মনে হচ্ছে। সবাই মহান আল্লাহর নিকট এ জালিম শাহীর কবল হতে নাজাতের জন্য দোয়া করি, আজ শুক্রবার সবাই এ ব্যাপারে বা'দ জুম্মার সময়টি বেছে নিবেন, এ কামনা। বাংলাদেশের টেকনাফ হতে তেতুলিয়া পর্যন্ত সব মসজিদে অপর এক জালিমশাহী হতে মানুষ নাজাতের জন্য শোকরানা নামাজ আদায় করেছিল, আসুন এ জুম্মায় সবাই সে নাজাতের জন্য দয়াময়ের দরবারে অশ্রু ফেলি।

UK থেকে Ahmed কে (২২ নং মন্তব্য): আর সবার মত ৩০ লাখ শহীদের কথা আমিও বিশ্বাস করেছিলাম কারণ আমারও জানাশোনা বেশ কিছু বুদ্ধিজীবী এই সংগ্রামে মৃত্যূবরণ করেছিলেন। এ নিয়ে বাংলাদেশ সম্পর্কে গবেষনা করেন এমন কিছু বিদেশী অ্যাকাডেমিকের সঙ্গে অনেক দিন থেকেই আমার আলাপ-আলোচনা চলে আসছে। ৩০ লাখের এই সংখ্যাটি নিয়ে তাঁদের দারুণ অস্বস্তি আমি লক্ষ্য করেছি। তাঁদের কথা হল নতুন দেশ হিসাবে বাংলাদেশকে যদি মাথা তুলে দাঁড়াতে হয়, তাহলে ঐতিহাসিক ঘটনাগুলোকে তথ্য বা প্রমান-ভিত্তিক করে তুলতে হবে। ঘটনার অতিরঞ্জিত বর্ণনা অধিকাংশ সময়েই সন্দেহের সৃষ্টি করে। আমাদের ইতিহাস বিকৃতির এই চিরকেলে স্বভাবের কারণে আমরা আন্তর্জাতিক সহানুভূতির অনেকটাই আতিমধ্যে হারিয়ে ফেলেছি। অতিরঞ্জন আমাদের চিরকালের স্বভাব। বৈঠকখানায় বসে আড্ডা দেওয়ার সময় অতিরঞ্জন আড্ডাকে জমিয়ে তোলে ঠিকই, কিন্তু আন্তর্জাতিক শ্রদ্ধা এত সহজে অর্জিত হয় না। দেশ ও সমাজ গঠনের কথা না হয় ছেড়েই দিলাম।

স্বাধীনতার পর থেকে বাকশালীদের ইতিহাস-লুট, সন্ত্রাস, ধর্ষন, গনহত্যা, লাল-নীল ঘোড়া, গনতন্ত্র হত্যা ও ভারতের স্বার্থ রক্ষায় বাংলাদেশকে পাইকারীদরে বাকীতে বিক্রি করার ইতিহাস। মুজিব থেকে হাসিনা, এই একই ধারাতেই প্রতিষ্ঠিত ও প্রমানিত। জামায়েতে ইসলামী অখন্ড পাকিস্তান চেয়েছিলো যে কারনে, স্বাধীনতার পরে ভারত কর্তৃক "বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতা"কে আজ পর্যন্ত "নির্মম বলতকারের" মাধ্যমে সেই কারনের সত্যতা প্রমান করেছে। আর এই "নির্মম বলতকারে" নিষ্ঠার সাথে ভারতকে সহয়তা করেছে ও করে চলেছে- বাকশালী মুজিব-হাসিনা গং। এই মীরজাফরা কিভাবে অন্যের বিচার চায়? বাংলাদেশের মানুষ যদি আগামীতে স্বাধীনভাবে রায় প্রকাশের সুযোগ পায় তবে দেখা যাবে যে, জামায়তে ইসলামীর নয়, মুজিব-হাসিনাদেরই বিচারে স্বতফূর্ত রায় দিয়েছে। সে জন্যই কি, উন্মাদ হাসিনা "ডিজিটাল রংহেডেড দানব ঘোড়া" দেশের মানুষের উপর লেলিয়ে দিয়েছে? ১৭৫৭'র পলাশী দু'শ বছর নির্যাতন করেও দেশপ্রেমিক মানুষদের নিঃশেষে শেষ করতে পারেনি, এই পলাশীর "মইন-হাসিনা-এরশাদ" ও পারবেনা ইনশাআল্লাহ।

From the "The Road to Despotism", PP 153-154, 156, 72, "Men like Bal Gangadhar Tilak used the Gita to justify the forcible conversion of Muslims to Hinduism and the killing of those who might resist" "The people of Pakistan awoke to greet the dawn of freedom only to be confronted with the thick black clouds of communal fury wholesale extermination of the Muslims in East Punjab, and social disruption and economic destination of many millions of men, women and children. For a people who were determined not to allow these menacing storms to wreck the ship of State at its launching, no sacrifice appeared too great. A Punjabi Muslim peasant of Jullundhur had seen his wife's throat cut by a Sikh sabre and had been forced to witness the rape and subsequent murder of his fifteen-year-old daughter. He reached Lahore in a refugee train. As the train pulled up, Muzamder – for that was his name – threw himself to the ground and kissed the soil of Pakistan, tears of joy streaming down his face. Muzamder had reached the promised land. The stone slab of the railway platform that Muzumdar kissed was burning hot under the August sun. But his dry lips caressed the stone with a reverence that cooled his soul. He would have lingered there somewhat longer if a Pakistani police inspector's boot in his ribs hadn't forced him to roll over. The inspector followed through and pulled Muzandar up to his feet, holding him by the scruff of his neck. For having licked what Muzamdar thought was the sacred soil of Pakistan, the inspector called him a 'dirty pig'. The red hot blood of a hungry man who had not eaten for three days rushed to his head – for the last time he had been called a pig was by the Sikh who had raped and then killed and mutilated his young daughter. He flung himself at the inspector, but fortunately for the latter Muzamdar passed out and fell flat on the sacred soil once again, bleeding from a cut forehead. When he came to he was on hospital. Ten minutes later he was discharged as 'fit' and left to fend for himself in the great city. Muzamdar went into a mosque where he washed himself and said a prayer. It was the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. At sunset people brought food to the mosque (It is tradition of Muslims in whole world). Muzamdar did not know whether he was fasting, but he could not remember when he had last eaten. He joined the faithful and ate. He slept in the mosque, he stayed in the mosque the next day not knowing where to go, he slept the following night in the mosque again. Days and nights passed and Muzamdar stayed there saying more and more prayers. He is still there, living in a room at the back of the mosque. Recently he became the mosque's muezzin calling the faithful to prayer. Originally the catchment area of the mosque consisted of about fifty houses of working class families and a few petty traders. Then the mosque was always full. About 10 years ago a modern middle-class housing estate began to be built around the mosque. When the houses were completed the mosque itself was rebuilt with a dome and a pair of minarets and marble floors was laid. That is when a small room was built for Muzamdar, because the new middle-class faithful objected to his sleeping on their expensive floor. While the population surrounding the mosque has steadily declined. Though few now answer his call to prayer, Muzamdar is now a salaried muezzin receiving 50 rupees (&2.50) a month. Talking to him in 1970 one had the distinct impression that he was pappier before the mosque was rebuilt and before the 'sahib' (gentlemen) class moved around it." The policeman's boot that had dug into Muzamdar's ribs was no abstraction; it was symbolic of a reality that Muzamdar was too simple to perceive. It meant above all that independence would make no difference to the nature of authority in Pakistan and that the birth of freedom was not to be mistaken for a turning point in history. The gentlemen's gentlemen who now became gentlemen in their own right were going to make sure that no misunderstanding arose as to who would be in control of this God-given country." Yes, gentlemen's gentlemen became the ruling class of Bangladesh and Pakistan for whose creation millions of Indian Muslims were killed; Indian Muslims are deprived from any kind job, business or proper housing. And it is true for Arabic illegal Nation States too. Even in the birthplace of Islam and tribe of Israelis or Ibrahimist i.e. Iraq, Palestine/Israel Hejaj; you can not declare Islamic State of Caliphate. Any opposition is forbidden and even in Present West Bank or Gaza under Arafat or in Egypt under Mubarak or in so called Saudi Arabia under Saudis a criminal tribe who was installed in power by Britain. There is no existence of true Islam in Bangladesh or Pakistan or in any Arab countries. Many of them go to mosque, but they do not distinguish between haram (non-kosher) and halal (kosher). Those new gentlemen treat State wealth as their personal wealth. Latest edition is former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan. And in all governments you will see same faces as Ministers, which happened in Indonesia and Pakistan. There is no honesty and morality. They treat public property as their own property. And if few of them protest then they will be tortured. Killed or will be put in Jail on the pretext of Emergency law, one version of secret Evidence. The fact that such a volume has never been produced is responsible for many of the misconceptions which exist in the mind of those Europeans who control the diverse and conflicting politics which entangle themselves round Constantinople.

শেখ হাসিনার চাইতে শেখ মুজিবর রহমান হাজার গুনে বেশী স্ট্রং ছিলেন। রক্ষীবাহিনী, আর্মী, মুজিব লীগ, ইত্যাদিতে দেশ ছেয়ে রেখেছিল নিজ নিরাপত্তার খাতিরে। হুকুম দেওয়া মাত্র হাজারো কাটা কল্লা মুহুর্তের মধ্যে হাজির করার মানুষ ছিল এই শেখের আয়ত্বে। পাশে ছিল বিশাল ভারত, আর মুজিব ছিল ভারত মায়ের বুকের ভিতরে। না ভাই ঐতিহাসিক সত্য হল শেখ মুজিবর রহমান নিজে নন, তাঁর প্রচুর আত্বীয় পরিজন সহ নিশ্চিহ্ন হয়ে গেলেন মাত্র দু ঘন্টার ব্যবধানে। সে সময় ভারতের সমুদয় শক্তি এবং বাংলাদেশের তাঁর নিরাপত্তার গ্যারান্টি দাতারা কামান, গুলি, ক্ষেপনাস্ত্র কিছুই ব্যবহার করতে পারেনি শুধু বগল দাবা করে দাঁড়িয়ে ছিল মাত্র। আর এ ঘটনার যিনি আদেশ দাতা তার মুখে দাঁড়ি ছিল, মাথায় টুপি ছিল এমনকি চোখ দুটো কানা ছিল। তিনি চট্টগ্রাম হালিশহরের আঁধা হাফিজ। এই আঁধা হাফিজ নির্দেশ দিয়েছিলেন তার মুরিদ কর্নেল ফারুক ও রশীদকে, শেখ মুজিবকে খতম করো, কাউকে জিবীত রাখো না। ব্যস, শেখ মুজিবর রহমানের ক্ষমতার সিংহাসন, আকাশচুম্বি অহংকার মুহুর্তের মধ্যেই কাঁচের মত চুড়মার হয়ে বালিতে পরিনত হয়ে গেল। সবাই দেখল দাঁড়ি টুপির কি কেরামত! আঁধা হাফিজের দাঁড়ি যে দেখেনি সে দুনিয়া দেখেনি, যে দাঁড়ি ডানে বামে নড়ালে আওয়ামী নেতাদের বুকে ভূকম্পন শুরু হত। যে দাঁড়ি উপরে নিচে নামালে মুজিবের সংসদ থরথর করে কেঁপে উঠত। যে দাঁড়িতে একবার ঝাড়া মারলে দেশের শাসক বর্গের পরিবার নিশ্চিহ্ন হয়ে যেত। আঁধা হাফিজ সে দাঁড়ি জীবনে মাত্র একরারই ঝাড়া মেরেছিলেন, টুপির কাহিনী নাহয় বাদই দিলাম। সুতরাং আবার আঁধা হাফিজের দরকার হয়ে পড়েছে। নিজামী, মুজাহিদ, সাইদীর তর্জনী হেলন বাকী রইল, আওয়ামীলীগ যদি সংঘাত চায়, সংঘাত শুরু হবে। তবে তা বন্ধ করা সম্ভব হবেনা। কারন জামায়াত-শিবিরের পালানোর জন্য পাশে ভারত নাই, ফলে তারা আওয়ামী বোগলে মরন কামড় দিবেই। তাই আওয়ামীলীগের নেতা-কর্মীদের বুঝা উচিত হাসিনা শুধু ভারতের পরামর্শেই দেশকে গৃহযুদ্%3

I express my gratitude to Mr. Badruddin Umar for his true article. After the Pilkhana massacre I lost my faith on leaders and army officers. The attack was on army officers and it was preplanned. For last few days or even months, the rebelions were holding meetings inside and outside Pilkhana. Military and non-militaty intelligence authorities totally ignored their responsibilities by not reporting to higher authorities or higher authorities not cared their reports. On the day of massacre (25 Feb'09) the higher authorities also ignored their responsibilites and they did nothing and there was no security arrangements inside the Pilkhana to save the army officers; although they knew very well that BDR men were agitated and they might take their arms in hand against the army officers. The failure of DGFI for not reporting to Army Chief, and the failure of the Army Chief for not taking any steps to rescue hundres of army officers inside the Pilkhana tantamount to betrayal with the interest of Bangladesh. Instantly Indian response on the situation compelled people to believe that Indian authority had directly involved with the conspiracy against Bangladesh. There was no proper investigation. These big big issues are remaining uncared and unresponded by our intellectual class. There is a doubt that AL is trying to create a chaotic situation by arresting opposition and Jamaat leaders in the name of trial of war crimes. In case AL comes across ressistance by the opposition AL will seek foreign help to subdue the ressistance. My urge to intellectuals to write on Pilkhana massacre issue. Regards.

Salam: I am a Bengali living in the USA for 30 years. At that time in 1971, I was a young government officer, living in Panchlais/Katalgonj, Chittagong. I had to frequently travel to Rangamati, Ramgarh, Cox's Bazar, Sylhet, and Dacca by car with my newly wed wife and the driver. During the entire period of nine months we were never harassed or asked to get out of the car although at some places our trunk was sometimes checked by the military. Before 25 March, we have seen how non-Bengalis were brutally killed and looted. Even Bengali Muslim leagures were not spared. I myself saw many non-Bengali homes in fire. Our nextdoor non-Bengali neighbor and the family had to flee leaving their teenager disabled son thinking people would not hurt him. Bengalis, led by Hindus, slaughtered him. Two Pathan security guards of Habib Bank who lived in the verandah of the mosque were pulled and slaughtered. At Badderhat, my car was often stopped and checked by Razakars and as I was a frequent traveller I saw the same Razakars immediately after the liberation became Freedom fighters and checked my car. In those days we had 65,000 villages and the urban population was rather limited. When I see the number of people killed in the war as 3,000,000 (three million), I wonder how it can be a realistic number. If you divide 3 million by say 100,000 (65,000 villages plus 35,000 equivalent of urban areas), the every village or its equivalent lost 30 people. This is untrue. My home is about 15 miles south of Dacca and no body was killed in our village or any nearby 10 villages. Innocent people were killed by both the sides - pro-Pakistani and Pro-Bangladeshi and most of them were killed by Bengalis themselves, although initially in Dacca there were considerable killing by the military. Recently, I was in South Africa. Although Blacks were killed and tortured by Whites for decades, Nelson Mandella becoming President stopped any kind of revenge and united Blacks and Whites to develop the nation. This kind of mentality should have been prevailed after Bangladesh became independent. It should have united Bengalis and Non-Bengalis (often more skilled) to develop the free country. This kind of example was set by Muhammad (sm) after he won Mecca. Also, Saladdin gave general amnesty to the Crusaders after he retook Jerusalem. Ausal
