COMMONWEALTH EXPRESS TO BE AT KOLKATA STATION FOR TWO DAYS

Kolkata, July 28, 2010.

 

 

"Commonwealth Express", the exhibition train run by Ministry of Railways and Department of Information Technology would reach Kolkata at 10.00 hours tomorrow (July 29, 2010). The exhibition train combining the ideas of Sports and Information Technology would be at the Kolkata station platform for two days and depart for Durgapur on July 31, 2010.

 

The train has five coaches exclusively on Delhi-2010 Commonwealth Games theme. It would also highlight India's Sports icons and their achievements in the world of sports. Role of Indian Railways in nurturing and promoting sporting talents would be another highlighting feature.

 

There would be six other coaches showcasing the capacity, capability and work done in the country in the area of Information and Communication Technology.

 

Commonwealth Express was flagged off by the Railway Minister, Ms. Mamata Banerjee from New Delhi's Safderjung Railway Station on June 24, 2010. After travelling through 49 cities and towns across the country covering 23 states and UT of Puducherry and Chandigarh, would come back to the same station on October 2, 2010.
