Dear Sir Alex,

Re: One minute silence before the Chelsea match in remembrance of Ahmad

On 30th March 2011, a fifteen year old Manchester United fan by the name of  Sayyed Ahmad Saeed Shams was shot dead by security forces in Bahrain. He had been innocently playing football  wearing his Manchester United jersey outside his home in the village of Sa'ar, when security forces and military personnel gunned him down.

Ahmad was unarmed, and did nothing to provoke such a barbaric act. He died not only as an innocent Bahraini teenager, but also as a young Manchester United fan.

The tragic killing of Ahmad has caused massive sorrow not only in Bahrain but also worldwide where there has been a public outcry. The Bahraini people aspire to the same principles of freedom and democracy that we in the West, especially in UK, enjoy without fear of persecution.

I would appreciate any effort that the club can make to organise a minute's silence at Old Trafford in memory of Ahmad before the kick off on Sunday, 8th May between Manchester United and Chelsea .

Since Manchester United Football club is respected worldwide and has a consistent  record of organising minute's silence to commemorate tragedies which affect both Manchester United fans both here and abroad, this gesture from Manchester United Football club will be welcomed and go some way towards consoling Ahmad's family in their time of grief. In addition, it will serve as an indication of the club commitment to promoting the game of football as a way towards peaceful coexistence worldwide.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your response on this urgent matter.

Yours sincerely,
