Statements and support extended from Activists, Politicians and General people for Teesta Setalvad
We are shocked to learn of the rejection of the Anticipatory bail applications of Teesta Setalvad and Javed Anand by the Gujarat High Court. Media stories suggest that the bail applications have been turned down because Setalavad and Anand were "not cooperating with the investigations" and that prima facie "funds were used for private purpose". It is a matter of record that they have submitted their original bank statements, balance sheets and audited accounts that completely disprove the allegations. Does this amount to non-cooperation or prima facie evidence of wrong-doing?
We stand with Teesta Setalvad and Javed Anand, and their quest for justice for the victims of 2002 violence, which has turned them into a target of Gujarat government's ire. We condemn this witchhunt and the false and malicious propaganda being circulated against them.

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) condemns the Gujarat Police move to arrest Teesta Setalvad and her husband, Javed Anand in Mumbai. The arrest of Teesta Setalvad has been stayed for 24 hours at the intervention of the Supreme Court.
The Gujarat Police have targeted Teesta Setalvad because of her relentless championing of the rights of the victims of the Gujarat pogroms of 2002. While the Gujarat government is pursuing the harassment of Teesta Setalvad, it has been reinstating police officials who are facing serious criminal charges.
2002 के गुजरात दंगो की लगातार पैरवी कर रही सामजिक कार्यकर्ती तीस्ता सीतलवाड़ के एक केस में आज गुजरात के माननीय उच्च न्यायालय द्वारा अग्रिम जमानत को ख़ारिज कर दिया | साथ ही साजिश के तहत अहमदाबाद की क्राईम ब्रांच ने कुछ लोगो द्वारा तीस्ता पर लगाये गए आरोप के आधार पर FIR दर्ज कर लिया है | चूँकि गुजरात दंगे में पैरवी करने के कारण ही 107 दोषियों को अदालत द्वारा आजीवन कारावास की सजा हुई है | जिसमे बड़े राजनैतिक नेता, आईपीएस अधिकारी समेत अन्य प्रशासनिक अधिकारी भी है | साथ अभी भी कुछ लोगो के खिलाफ अदालत में मामला लंबित है | जिसकी पैरवी तीस्ता द्वारा किया जा रहा है | जिसके कारण पूर्व में भी तीस्ता को सांप्रदायिक ताकते धमकिया दे रही थी कि इस केस में पैरबी बंद कर दें | जिसके बाद भी तीस्ता द्वारा लगातार पैरवी जारी रखी गयी | इसी कारण उनको साजिशन प्रशासन और राजनैतिक लोगो द्वारा कुछ पीडितो को बहला फुसलाकर पीडितो के ही माध्यम से झूठे केस में फसाया जा रहा है | इसके पूर्व में भी कई सामाजिक कार्यकर्ताओ को प्रशासन व राजनैतिक लोगो द्वारा झूठे केस में फसाया गया है और फ़साने की कोशिश की जाती रही है | साथ ही कई सामजिक कार्यकर्ताओ ने कई वर्ष झूठे केस के आरोप में जेल में बंद रहे है और अदालत ने उन्हें बाईज्जत बरी भी किया है |
हम सभी सामाजिक संगठन के लोग प्रशासन द्वारा साजिशन सांप्रदायिक ताकतों के इशारे पर गुजरात दंगे में क़त्ल कर दिए और उजाड़ दिए गए पीडितो के न्याय के लिए लड़ रही एक सामजिक कार्यकत्री को साजिशन फ़साने के इस कृत्य की कड़े शब्दों में निन्दा करते है और यह भी कहते है कि इस लोकतांत्रिक देश में अराजकता का हर स्तर पर विरोध करेंगे और एकजुट होकर इस तरह की साजिश को नाकाम करने का पूरा प्रयास करेंगे | साथ ही माननीय सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने भी तीस्ता की एक दिन की गिरफ्तारी पर रोक लगा दी है |

All India Secular Forum stands with Teesta Setalvad and Javed Anand as they have struggled for justice for the victims of riots in Gujarat. Gujarat Police made several attempts and slapped several false cases on Teesta Setalvad to deter her from fighting for justice for the victims of Gujarat riots and have acted vindictively. The cases against them would not stand and justice will ultimately prevail. We demand that all false cases against Teesta Setalvad be immediately withdrawn and Gujarat police desist from taking coercive and vindictive action against them.

-अहमदाबाद के दंगा प्रभावित इलाकों में जो पुलिस वहीं से 3 दिन में नहीं पहुँच पायी, वो तीस्ता सेतलवाड़ की ज़मानत पर गुजरात हाई कोर्ट के फैसले के डेढ़ घंटे के अन्दर मुंबई पहुंच गयी! क्यों मान लिया जाए कि इसके पीछे राजनैतिक हाथ नही है?
-तीस्ता के खिलाफ अदालत के फैसले के एक घंटे में ही गुजरात पुलिस मुंबई कैसे पहुँच गई? बिना फैसले के बारे में पूर्व सूचना के क्या ये संभव है????

– When the law is manipulated to help the murderers and criminals get away scot free – that is just one level of corruption and injustice, In its decades of ruling India, the congress tried to get us used to it. thankfully we didn't.
But when people fighting for justice are threatened, jailed and harassed – it's not just corruption – it's a siege! This is what the British did during their colonial rule this is what a dictatorial regime does, this is what the King of Saudi does, this is what Pakistan's millitary regieme does…
And they say they are the nationalists! and they claim to speak up for India and it's pride!

This is simply an attempt to trap her and her organization in defending themselves so that the financial and legal resources aee diverted from the actual case!
