Connecting to Displaced and Disabled Families need Assistance in Vanni with Some Photos ‎(நத்தார், புதுவருடம் என்று நாம் கொண்டாடும் வேளையில் எமது தாயகத்தில் இருக்கும் எமது சிறுவர்களுக்கும் உதவும்படி வேண்டி நிற்கிறோம்!‏)‎

Dear All

"In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."

What hurts the victims the most is not the cruelty of the oppressor but the silence of the bystander."

Elie Wiesel, A Nobel Laureate

PLEASE CIRCULATE WORLDWIDE

Please kindly read this EMail and the attachment relating to the Humanitarian Project similar to "World vision and "Save the children sponsor" however the difference is:

- 100 % of your contribution reach the family.

- Family getting sponsor displaced or disabled live around Mullaiteevu_Killinochi area as a result of the war.

- You get to choose the family or child or war widow and communicate directly with them and remit funds direct to them.

We have connected many families over the past one and half years but we need more support.

- A recent visit to Vanni area around Mullaitheevu / Vavuniya / Pulliyankullam/ Killinochi contacting and visiting more than 100 families provided some of the following information.

- A lot of these people lost either a family member or a number of family members.

- A number of people and children still have shell pieces in various parts of their bodies head / chest / arms / legs / stomach etc and unable to work full time.

- Around 30,000 widows and 9,000 are under 30 years. Some of them are as young as 20 years old with children.

- Children either lost a parent or both or father still detained in camp and mother disabled or injured.

- 1000's of children are displaced as a result of losing both parents/1 parent/parents disabled/children disabled or living with grandma etc.

What we do

A small contribution a month will help to feed a disabled and displaced family.

· This Project do not collect any money from anyone and no middle person and no administration fees. No one get credit.

· We connect you directly to the affected families.

· You check their eligibility and if necessary confirm with the registered NGO's, Grama Sevaka or field staff in the relevant area. Field staff themselves are affected.

· You communicate directly with the affected family and provide your support directly.

· Two and ahalf years have passed since the war ended and these families are desperately in need of some assistance to get on with their day to day life ie finance and moral support.

· If anybody wishes to help and wants to be anonymous it can be arranged too.

· If you are already committed to a similar project it would be much appreciated if you could pass this message to all in your contact list so that others come forward to assist these affected people.

What has been done to date

· We have already connected many of these families and some of the families we met were delighted to inform that someone somewhere cares about them when they have nothing to look forward.

· Provided regular monthly support to the disabled families, Sponsor Rs 7,000 to 10,000/month. ($80 to $100)

· Support to displaced children, Sponsor Rs 1,000/2,000 per month. ($10 to $20)

· Set up small business - Livelihood Project ie Self-employment, Small shop,Tutory, provided sewing machine/ water pump/Chicken cage and chicken/ Goat or Cow to generate money for their day to day living. Cost around Rs 60,000 to Rs 75,000. ($600 to $700)
