RENOVATION WORK FOR RAMPURHAT & TARAPITH STATIONS STARTED, 3 COMPUTERISED RESERVATION OFFICES INAUGURATED

Kolkata: Thursday, June 24, 2010.

 

Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Smt. Shatabdi Roy, ceremonially commenced the work for renovation of Rampurhat station building and commissioned one newly built foot overbridge at Rampurhat Railway station today. She also inaugurated three (3) computerized reservation offices at Lohapur, Rajgram and Mallarpur Railway stations. She also commenced the work for renovation of station building and also to construct one Pay and Use toilet at Tarapith Road Station.

 

Five functions were held at Rampurhat, Lohapur, Rajgram, Tarapith and Mallarpur Railway stations on Bolpur-Nalhati section of Eastern Railway's Howrah division today. After renovation, façade of the   Rampurhat station building will be improved to look like Tarapith Temple at an estimated cost of Rs. 35 lakhs.  The new foot over bridge has been commissioned at Rampurhat Railway station at a cost of Rs. 30 lakhs.        The façade of the Tarapith station building will also be improved at a cost of Rs. 27 lakhs and after renovation it will also look like Tarapith temple.

 

Three (3) reservation offices also inaugurated by Smt. Roy, at Lohapur, Rajgram and Mallarpur will remain open from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. everyday except Sundays and National holidays.  Reservation facilities for all classes will be available from these three computerized reservation offices.  After the inauguration of these three computerized Railway reservation offices, the total number of computerized railway reservation offices under Kolkata Passenger Reservation System (PRS) rose to 667 and 183rd in West Bengal.  Under Eastern Railway, there is now 138 Computerized Railway Reservation offices.
